Job Description

Your Mission:

• Develop and implement solutions for relational databases.
• Utilize Azure Databricks to write code in Python, leveraging PySpark.
• Conduct comprehensive analysis, design, implementation, and testing of solutions, with a strong emphasis on automated testing.
• Enhance the functionality of the gold-layer engine for sub-ledger data.
• Address performance optimization challenges associated with large datasets (tens of billions of rows and over 200 columns) within the Spark environment.
  
  

About The Customer

For our client, a global leader in the insurance and reinsurance industry, we are looking for an experienced Senior Python Software Engineer with experience building solutions against relational databases.

• Start: ASAP or latest July 2025
• Duration: until 31.03.2026, possible extension
• Location: Zurich City, 4 days/week onsite
• Pensum: 100%, 41.25h/week
• Contractor at Swisslinx
  
  

Requirements

Your Profile:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or electrical engineering
• 5+ years of proven experience developing complex software systems as a software engineer
• Strong core Python software engineering experience, Spark experience is an advantage
• Good understanding and significant experience with projects using relational data models and SQL
• Proactive approach and a self-starter, address issues and possible solutions
• Good analytical skills and the ability to understand complexity and break it down into smaller, achievable steps
• Highly proficient in English (written and verbal)
