Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled
Senior Proposal Writer with a strong background in government proposal development, particularly within the defense and aerospace sectors. The ideal candidate combines technical acumen—preferably in engineering or a related field—with extensive experience leading and writing winning proposals for Department of Defense (DoD) contracts, especially in support of military aircraft systems and sustainment.
This role requires deep knowledge of the full proposal lifecycle, including capture planning, solution development, compliance, writing, and final production. A successful candidate will have experience working closely with engineering teams, program managers, and business development personnel to develop compelling, compliant, and customer-focused proposal content for both RFPs/RFIs and commercial solicitations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead or support the development of compliant, persuasive, and technically accurate proposal responses for government and commercial opportunities.
- Analyze RFPs, RFIs, and other solicitation documents to determine proposal requirements and develop compliance matrices.
- Collaborate with capture managers, engineers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and pricing leads to gather input and translate technical concepts into clear, compelling narrative.
- Write, edit, and tailor proposal content, including executive summaries, management plans, technical volumes, and past performance.
- Develop and maintain reusable proposal content and libraries to improve efficiency and consistency across proposals.
- Support color team reviews (Pink, Red, Gold) and incorporate feedback to refine proposal narratives.
- Stay current with industry best practices and trends in government and commercial proposal writing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical Writing, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in proposal development/writing for government contracts
- Strong experience supporting DoD contracts, especially those related to aircraft maintenance support, sustainment, systems integration or logistics.
- Proven track record of writing successful proposals for federal agencies, especially Army, Navy, and Air Force programs.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and convert complex information into customer-focused content.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active or previously held DoD security clearance.
- Experience with technical proposal tools and platforms (e.g., SharePoint, MS Teams, Adobe Acrobat, proposal management software).
