This Opportunity
WSP is searching for a Senior Project Manager, Civil Engineering to join our Northeast Transportation team and work out of either Glastonbury, CT or Providence, RI.
The Senior Project Manager will be part of our Civil Design service line and support WSP's state, and municipal clientele across the Northeast and will involve client interaction, fostering long lasting relationships; and using technical knowledge to lead project teams and mentor junior staff.
The successful candidate will have the ability to work on a breadth of civil projects to direct and approve calculations, design options, reports, agency reviews, and construction drawings for civil design projects.
Your Impact
* Manage and direct small to medium project design teams.
* Prepare scope of work and costing documents for proposals.
* Coordinate with other senior engineering staff, lead junior team members, project stakeholders and other disciplines to manage an organized approach to project execution.
* Perform professional civil engineering work including design of road and highway design and site grading using MicroStation OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD Civil3D, and hydraulic systems (closed and open conduits), hydrologic analyses, and stormwater management facilities using HydroCAD and other standard hydraulic analysis programs.
* Prepare permit applications and respond to agency (owner) comments in design.
* Prepare construction drawings, cost estimates, and specifications to implement designs.
* Prepare client-ready reports and drawings.
* Evaluate design options and understand costs/benefits of solutions.
* Train and mentor junior staff.
* Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
* Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
* Professional Engineer registration in Connecticut or Rhode Island, or ability to obtain within one year.
* 10+ years of professional engineering experience.
* Must be willing to travel to project sites and business meetings (with potential for overnight stays), as required.
* Project management experience and team leadership skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Civil design software tools.
* Proficient with making technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
* Works independently and provides guidance and leadership to junior-level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC procedures.
* Excellent leadership and interpersonal verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
* Tactical lateral thinking and strong analytical skills with attention to detail and prioritization of responsibilities in a pressure work environment.
* Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, clients, regulators, and company-wide staff, including those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exits.
* Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
* Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with CTDOT and/or RIDOT policies and procedures.
* Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
