Senior Project Manager – Major Infrastructure Upgrade

A leading infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee the transformation of one of Essex’s busiest road junctions. This high-profile scheme includes the redesign of a major interchange, construction of a new pedestrian bridge, and road widening works, representing a significant upgrade to regional transport infrastructure.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As Senior Project Manager, you’ll take full accountability for delivering the project safely, on time, and to budget — leading a multidisciplinary team and working closely with designers, supply chain partners, and client stakeholders. You will:

• Lead all site operations and construction phases across this complex multi-million-pound project
• Build and develop a high-performing delivery team, assigning responsibilities and supporting growth
• Manage design coordination and provide direction to the design manager
• Oversee procurement of materials, plant, and subcontractors aligned to programme milestones
• Ensure compliance with HS&E legislation and site safety plans
• Conduct inspections and reviews, investigating incidents and reporting findings
• Champion digital construction and understand the value of BIM in major infrastructure delivery
• Identify and mitigate project risks including disputes, defects, and legal liabilities

What We’re Looking For:

• A formal qualification in civil engineering or a related discipline
• Strong leadership experience on major infrastructure projects >£30m in value
• Deep understanding of infrastructure delivery within a regulated, safety-critical environment
• CSCS card holder; CEng status desirable but not essential
• Proven track record of delivering complex highway or transport-related projects
• Ability to influence, communicate, and problem-solve under pressure
