About the opportunity:
We are looking for a Senior Program Manager to support one of the largest regulated utilities in the U.S., with critical operations in power, energy distribution, and infrastructure services. This person will lead the creation and oversight of a Vendor Management Office (VMO), manage cross-functional IT programs, and interact directly with procurement, finance, legal, and executive leadership. The ideal candidate is highly experienced in large enterprise environments, has excellent executive communication skills, and is based in the Bay Area, available to work onsite 2-3 times per week in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage large-scale IT programs from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with strategic business goals.
* Own the creation and execution of PowerPoint presentations tailored for executive audiences, clearly articulating business problems, solutions, and program updates.
* Set up and lead a Vendor Management Office (VMO) to consolidate IT vendor relationships and reduce operational costs.
* Interface with cross-functional teams, including IT, sourcing, finance, and legal, to ensure smooth execution of procurement and vendor strategy.
* Oversee vendor performance, implement scorecards, and identify areas for service improvement and cost savings.
* Use Excel for data analysis, financial forecasting, tracking KPIs, and managing program budgets.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, ensuring timely communication and resolution of issues.
* Guide project teams, drive accountability, and foster a high-performance, collaborative environment.
* Engage with C-level stakeholders, delivering impactful presentations and aligning programs to strategic priorities.
* Represent IT as a unified entity in external vendor interactions, ensuring compliance and operational alignment.
Required Qualifications:
* Experience in enterprise-level IT program management, ideally with exposure to procurement and vendor strategy.
* Strong business background, preferably with a degree from a business school.
* Excellent PowerPoint skills with proven ability to build high-impact executive presentations.
* Proficiency in Excel for managing budgets, performing data analysis, and forecasting.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and engage C-level executives.
* Located in the Bay Area with availability for onsite presence 2-3 times per week.
* Minimum 8 years of relevant experience.
Nice to Have:
* Experience in standing up Vendor Management Organizations (VMO).
* Background in vendor management, including contract negotiation and performance monitoring.
