General Notes
The University of Texas School of Nursing, Senior Program Coordinator, Simulation & Skills Center is an essential and engaging role that supports the education of nursing students. The position oversees the day-to-day activities and services of the nursing Simulation and Skills Center (SSC). The position also provides day-to-day management and supervision of student employee and assists the SSC and LEAP Center leadership with planning, operations, and supervision of all SSC activities.
Supervisory Responsibilities
* Recruits, trains, and supervises undergraduate student assistants and volunteers in the setups, breakdowns, supply pulls and upkeep of space for clinical skills courses and simulations.
* Coordinates and supervises the workflow for "Skills Lab Pack" contents, ordering, shipping, distribution and storage.
* Supervises and coordinates all learning activity preparation, support, setup and breakdown for all simulation and skills activities.
Program Coordination
* Collaborate with clinical course faculty in planning, resources and logistics of simulation and skills activities.
* Preparation, setup, breakdown and quality assurance of all clinical course activities, to include simulation and skills review activities.
* Continuously update and refine all clinical course activity experiences based on identified needs and serve as a resource for faculty utilizing SSC services
* Supervises, coordinates, trains and reviews quality of work of the undergraduate student assistants for all clinical and skills course activities.
* Collaborates with graduate teaching assistants the preparation, setup, support and breakdown of simulation and skills review activities.
Technology Coordination
* Coordinates with LAITS department and vendor contacts to quickly resolve technical issues related to simulations and VPE activities.
* Orient instructors to technical resources for simulation and VPE activities
* Coordinates the maintenance, repair, and support of all technical resources related to simulation and VPE activities.
* Setup, operate and assist in maintenance of high, mid and low fidelity simulator and task trainers during simulations, skills course and special projects.
* Coordinate, troubleshoot and maintain technical systems for simulations, and performance exams - workstations, devices, laptops and technical applications.
Other Responsibilities
* Assist Simulation & Skills Center Director with analysis to evaluate simulation and skills operations and satisfaction among students, faculty and staff.
* Assist Simulation & Skills Director and LEAP Director with departmental projects, internal/external conferences, community outreach, and educational programs.
* Assist in preparing for and participates in SoN service and community outreach projects, including UT Parents Weekend, Explore UT, scheduled and special tours of the Simulation and Skills Center, as needed.
* Attend meetings and professional development training as required.
Minimum Requirements
* 2 years' minimum experience in service, education, or healthcare industries.
* Demonstrates excellent organizational, written and communication skills.
* Proficiency in computer equipment and office software MS Word/Excel/Teams/PowerPoint.
* Demonstrate ability to think critically, troubleshoot and take action to resolve issues.
Preferred Qualifications
* 1 year experience as a coordinator or technologist in a healthcare simulation center
* 1 year experience in a supervisory or leadership role in a healthcare simulation center or similar setting.
* Healthcare experience as a patient care assistant/technician, medical assistant, CNA or other related positions.
* Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, working with medical equipment and supplies preferred.
Salary Range
$50,000 - $52,020 annual, depending on qualifications
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
* 40 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts with possible evening/weekend hours.
* Work is performed in office, classroom, and clinical lab settings and in the community with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.
* Substantial time is spent working on a computer. This is semi-sedentary work which requires the following physical activities: sitting, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, carrying, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity.
