This includes assisting with budget development, billing preparation, pursuing receivable collections and recording revenues and expenses in accordance with GAAP The Sr. Program Accountant ensures reports and related documentation for the Federal Single audit requirements comply with grants and contract regulations. The Sr. Program Accountant prepares monthly reconciliations, roll forward schedules, and assists in the preparation of the Single audit; and will work collaboratively across departments to oversee financial and compliance facets of the grants and contracts awarded. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: * Perform the financial operations and administrative functions of assigned portfolio in support of overall contractual goals and objectives. * Serve as primary contact for assigned portfolio. * Prepare accurate and timely monthly contract billings and reconciliations for the assigned portfolio and ensure that the appropriate supporting documentation is prepared and maintained. * Ensure all billings agree with approved budgets and are submitted to the appropriate agencies. * Monitor spending of grant funds and identify the need for budget modification with third party grantors or contractors (Overruns, re-allocation of line items). * Prepare all journal entries for assigned portfolio. * Maintain the original contracts and grants files including approved budgets. * Confirm all agreements and amendments are scanned and electronically filed. * Monitor contracts and grants compliance with funding terms and conditions. * Manage accounts receivable functions for assigned portfolio including coding of receipts. * Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports * Perform financial and administrative functions in support of the Finance departments overall goals. * Monitor Single Audit compliance of contracts and grants. * Maintaining the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards roll forward. * Preparing monthly reconciliations for Temporary Restricted, Deferred and Refund Accounts. * Preparing monthly reports on First Source Compliance. * Preparing monthly Bad Debt schedule. * Maintaining and updating organizational corporate records; including annual SAM.gov reporting. * Maintain agency database for the contracts and grants and track related deliverables and contract renewal and expirations. * Assist in the preparation and review of the budgets for contracts or grants related to the assigned portfolio as well the organization's budget process. * Support Program staff in understanding the statement of activities for the program. * Prepare monthly financial variance reports for assigned portfolio. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field. * 5 years' experience in accounting with experience in contracts and grants. SKILLS and COMPETENCIES: * Knowledge of automated financial systems and procurement applications such as Great Plains. * Strong understanding of GAAP. * Developed computer skills and proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
