SMX is seeking a Senior Operations Specialist to support a complex and high-impact cloud and DevSecOps environment for a Federal customer. You will play a leading role in ensuring secure, automated, and reliable operations that support the full software development lifecycle. This position is ideal for a technical leader who thrives in collaborative, fast-paced environments and is passionate about DevSecOps enablement and secure cloud delivery.
Essential Duties:
* Lead the design, build, and operation of automated software release pipelines in cloud-hosted IL5 environments.
* Collaborate with development teams to integrate and optimize CI/CD processes.
* Monitor system health and operational performance, generating dashboards and KPIs for compliance.
* Provide expert-level support for onboarding teams to the DevSecOps toolchain and cloud platforms.
* Ensure compliance with RMF, cATO, and other federal cybersecurity policies.
* Implement logging, alerting, and performance tuning to ensure high system availability.
Required Skills & Experience:
* BA/BS degree and 8+ years of relevant operations or DevSecOps experience.
* Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native development.
* Experience supporting cloud environments (preferably AWS GovCloud IL5).
* Familiarity with GitLab, SonarQube, Jira, and JFrog Artifactory.
* Strong understanding of NIST 800-53, RMF, and security compliance in federal environments.
* Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
Desired Skills & Experience
* Experience mentoring junior staff or leading operational teams.
* Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
* Certifications in AWS, Kubernetes, or DevOps methodologies.

The proposed salary for this position is:
$71,200-$118,700 USD
