Job Details

The Senior Network Engineer, reporting to the Regional Network Manager, will oversee the deployment and maintenance of local, regional, and global network architectures. This role requires a high level of technical proficiency and the ability to manage complex networking environments while collaborating effectively with various technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

Network Configuration and Maintenance: Configure and maintain network switches, routers, and other networking appliances in accordance with established procedures, standards, and methodologies.

LAN/WAN Management: Utilize various tools to configure and maintain local and wide area networks, ensuring consistent, reliable, and secure communications within the organization.

Capacity Planning: Provide network capacity planning recommendations aligned with projected growth and usage trends.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with various technical teams to support and implement local and global networking projects.

Technical Escalation: Serve as the escalation point for resolving complex technical issues.

Customer Service: Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Mentorship: Coach and mentor junior engineering staff, fostering professional growth and team cohesion.

Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed documentation on network designs, configurations, and standards.

Skill Advancement: Continuously advance networking skills through ongoing education and training.

On-Call Support: Participate in an on-call rotation and perform occasional after-hours/weekend work as required.

Qualifications

Education: BS degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience in installing and supporting network systems for global enterprises.

Key Skills And Competencies

Multi-Vendor Environment: Proficiency in supporting hardware and software across multiple vendors.

Routing and Switching: Demonstrable experience with routing and switching technologies (e.g., Cisco, Arista, Aruba/HPE).

WAN Connectivity: Experience managing and supporting established WAN and SDWAN architectures.

Wi-Fi Management: Experience in deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Wi-Fi environments and authentication standards.

Network Access Control: Working knowledge of Network Access Control mechanisms.

Security Products: Hands-on experience with deploying and managing security products (e.g., Firewalls, IPS/IDS).

Monitoring Tools: Experience with system, security, and network monitoring tools.

Network Automation: Familiarity with network automation frameworks and programming languages.

Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate complex network and information security concepts and risks.

Project Leadership: Proven ability to lead technical projects from inception to completion.

Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to quickly diagnose and resolve complex network issues.

Appreciated Skills

Data Center Architectures: Understanding and experience with data center network architectures (e.g., spine and leaf) and protocols (e.g., VXLAN, EVPN, BGP, MLAG).

Fiber Optic Standards: Knowledge of modern data center fiber optic cabling and connector standards.

HPC Interconnects: Familiarity with high-performance computing interconnect technologies such as Omnipath and Infiniband.

Cloud Infrastructure: Experience with OpenStack cloud computing infrastructure.

Linux and Virtualization: Knowledge of Linux operating systems, virtualization, and containerization technologies.

Certifications: CCNP or equivalent networking experience.

Network Function Virtualization: Experience with NFV technologies.

Software-Defined Networking: Experience in supporting SDN and SD-WAN solutions.
