📍 Location: Cosham, Portsmouth (Hybrid – Mostly remote, 2-3 days/month in office)

🕐 Employment Type: Permanent

💼 Salary: £55,000 to £60,000 DOE, with on-call bonuses (£300/week + 1.5x pay for time worked)

Role Overview:

As a Senior Network Engineer, you’ll take ownership of the day-to-day support, optimisation, and project delivery for our clients’ networks. You’ll troubleshoot complex issues, design scalable solutions, and mentor junior engineers—all while working with top-tier vendors like Cisco, FortiGate, and Palo Alto. This role blends technical leadership with hands-on problem-solving, offering a chance to shape network strategies in a growing organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Network Support & Troubleshooting:
• Monitor, triage, and resolve network faults, ensuring SLA compliance.
• Proactively identify and implement performance improvements.
• Infrastructure Design & Implementation:
• Architect and deploy network solutions for projects, adhering to best practices.
• Collaborate with teams to integrate physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
• Multi-Vendor Expertise:
• Configure and manage devices from Cisco, FortiGate, Meraki, Palo Alto, and SonicWALL.
• Lead firmware upgrades and script automation to streamline operations.
• Security & Compliance:
• Mitigate vulnerabilities through scanning and adherence to security protocols.
• Ensure robust change control (CRQ management) and documentation.
• Leadership & Mentorship:
• Guide junior engineers and uphold ticket management standards.
• Maintain asset records and create/review technical documentation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Technical Expertise:

• Proven experience with Cisco, FortiGate, Meraki, or Palo Alto technologies.
• Deep understanding of network topologies, protocols, and security frameworks.
• Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation (a plus).

Certifications:

• CCNP or equivalent vendor certifications preferred.

Soft Skills:

• Exceptional communication—able to explain technical concepts to stakeholders.
• Problem-solving mindset with a focus on ownership and innovation.
