For Freelance (Contract) & Consultancy (Payroll)

As a Senior Network and Security Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and securing a complex network and security infrastructure. This role involves modernizing the current network environment to meet evolving requirements, with a strong emphasis on hybrid integration between on-premises infrastructure and Microsoft Azure.

You will work closely with internal experts including enterprise architects, network and system engineers, and external partners. In addition to core networking responsibilities, you will also contribute to the development of a scalable data platform. Experience with systems and data infrastructure is therefore highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

Network Redesign and Implementation

• You will improve, implement, and expand LAN, WAN, and cloud-based networks.
• You will configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and other network hardware.
• You will optimize network performance, stability, and availability.
  
  
  

Security Policy and Implementation

• You will implement and maintain network security measures and protocols.
• You will monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents.
• You will perform regular security audits and risk assessments.
  
  
  

Cloud Integration

• You will optimize hybrid environments that combine on-prem infrastructure with Azure.
• You will manage cloud security, access control, and policy enforcement.
  
  
  

Network Management and Support

• You will maintain up-to-date network documentation and topology diagrams.
• You will troubleshoot network issues and provide technical support to resolve incidents.
  
  
  

Collaboration

• You will collaborate with IT teams and other departments to align network solutions with business requirements.
• You will contribute to projects involving the implementation of new technologies and solutions.
  
  
  

You have the following skills

Requirements

• You have at least a Bachelor`s degree in IT, Network Engineering, Information Security, or a related field.
• You have proven experience in designing and implementing enterprise-level network solutions.
• You have strong knowledge of network protocols, VPNs, firewalls, and network security principles.
• You have hands-on experience in network and firewall configuration.
• You have experience with Microsoft Azure, particularly in hybrid and cloud networking setups.
• You have a solid understanding of system and data infrastructure.
• You have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to react quickly to network issues.
• You have excellent communication skills and can clearly explain technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
  
  
  

Language Requirements

• You have active Fluent English (spoken and written).
• You have Good (spoken and written) of Dutch and/or French
  
  
  

Nice to Have

• Certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, Security+, CISSP, or other relevant credentials.
• Experience working in high-security environments.
• Familiarity with Azure networking and cloud governance models.
• Experience with infrastructure for systems and data platforms.
