Position Overview:
Summit Squad is hiring an [On-Site] Sr. Mobile Game Designer to help shape the future of our live mobile titles and upcoming projects. In this role, you'll be a key force behind the systems, features, and economic models that keep players engaged and coming back for more. From balancing gameplay to designing in-game events and virtual economies, your work will directly influence the player experience and drive our business forward.
This is a high-impact role, ideal for someone who blends analytical thinking with creative instincts, and who is excited to work hands-on in a fast-paced, collaborative studio environment. You’ll work cross-functionally with developers, artists, product managers, and community experts to bring your ideas to life, and make great games even better.
Key Responsibilities:
🎮 Game Design & Systems:
- Design and iterate on core gameplay features, systems, and progression loops with a focus on player retention and engagement
- Write clear, comprehensive design documentation, including flowcharts and mockups, to guide development
- Create multiple design solutions and provide in-depth analysis of trade-offs, risks, and player impact
- Prototype UX/UI flows and integrate feedback from both stakeholders and players to refine design
- Balance mechanics, pacing, and meta systems to optimize overall player experience and long-term retention
📊 Game Economy & Monetization:
- Design, balance, and optimize in-game currencies, virtual goods, and pricing strategies with a strong emphasis on monetization
- Use spreadsheets and advanced analytical tools (e.g., Tableau) to model and simulate economic systems, ensuring a sustainable balance between gameplay and monetization
- Leverage player behavior data to identify opportunities for improving key KPIs such as progression, retention, and monetization
- Study competitive titles and extract key learnings to inform and refine the game’s economic design
🎉 Live Ops, Events & Team Collaboration:
- Conceptualize, plan, and execute in-game events, promotions, and seasonal content, ensuring they align with player preferences and engagement goals
- Maintain and manage a content calendar to deliver consistent, dynamic in-game experiences
- Collaborate effectively with art, marketing, and cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive and successful execution
- Act as the voice of the customer, regularly seeking feedback and aligning game design with player needs and studio goals
- Participate in brainstorming sessions, playtests, and design reviews to continuously improve and innovate
- Stay informed on the latest game design trends and foster a culture of learning, analytics, and innovation within the team
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a Game Designer, preferably on a mid-core mobile title
- Deep knowledge of free-to-play game mechanics, systems design, and monetization
- Strong skills in game balancing, player psychology, and feature design
- Experience with live-service mobile games and real-time multiplayer systems
- Familiarity with Figma, Sketch, Photoshop, or other UI/UX design tools
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and data interpretation
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Comfortable giving and receiving feedback in a fast-paced, agile environment
- Passion for games, playing them, studying them, and making them better
Bonus Points (Nice to Haves):
- Experience with Unity, Unreal, Godot, or other game engines
- Strong grasp of macroeconomics, pricing theory, and statistics
- Background in scripting (e.g., LUA) or light programming
- Experience with BI tools (e.g., Tableau) for analyzing player data
- Post-secondary education in Game Design, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field
