Summary

CEPTON, a leading intelligent lidar solution provider, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechatronics Engineer with a Master's, or PhD, degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in servo design, dynamic analysis, and CAD design. The candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing complex mechatronic systems, contributing to the advancement of our innovative products. This position requires a strong blend of mechanical, electrical, and control systems expertise, with a focus on delivering high-performance solutions. Partnering closely with our brilliant functional R&D teams, you will work in a dynamic, cross-functional, collaborative work environment and design and mechanical subsystems for LiDAR product development. as well as support new product introduction to high volume manufacturing process for automotive and non-automotive customers. As we are at the cutting edge of technological advancement, join us if you are willing to work with like-minded people to face the challenges posed by the new era of technology, together with opportunities to work with strong industry leaders What You Will Do * Design and develop mechatronic systems, focusing on servo mechanisms, actuators, and precision control systems. * Conduct dynamic analysis, including kinematic and kinetic modeling, to ensure system performance and reliability. * Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks). * Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing teams, to integrate systems and ensure seamless product development. * Perform simulations and analysis to optimize designs for durability, efficiency, and performance. * Prototype, test, and validate designs, analyzing results to refine and improve system performance. * Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to servo systems, motion control, and dynamic performance. * Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to incorporate best practices into designs. * Document designs, specifications, and test results to support product development and compliance with industry standards. * Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge-sharing initiatives. Who You Are * Master's degree, or PhD in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. * Experience with programming in C for control systems. * Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in servo design, dynamic analysis, and CAD design. * Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) for 3D modeling and drafting. * Strong expertise in dynamic analysis tools and techniques (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, or similar). * In-depth knowledge of servo systems, motion control, and electromechanical actuators. * Experience with control systems design and tuning for precision applications. * Familiarity with prototyping, testing, and validation of mechatronic systems. * Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. * Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical documentation and cross-team collaboration. * Experience with robotics, automation, or embedded systems is a plus. * Experience working with optical integration into mechatronic systems is a plus. Cepton is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range for this role is $140,000 to $170,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor. The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
