Summary

Job Summary:

 

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Senior Mechanical Engineer works under general direction as required and is responsible for planning projects, developing budgets, time schedules, equipment and manpower requirements. Initiative is required to complete projects on time and within budget, following general guidelines. The position may be involved full-time with one engineering project or operation, or with a number of smaller, more complex projects. The Senior Mechanical Engineer applies independent diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices and will comply with organizations policies, internal controls and Code of Conduct.

 

Key Responsibilities:


·        Develop layouts, detail drawings and BOM for components for assemblies and tools

·        Perform stress analysis using traditional and FEA methods to optimize design and specify materials properties or determine load limits of components and/or assemblies

  • Maintaining technical accuracy and detail in all aspects of completed work.
  • Investigating technical problems, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Setting and achieving design project deadlines.

·        Provide support to Manufacturing and Service departments including production fixture/tooling design support as well as processing of NCR, REA & ECN

  • Assisting with the implementation of new standards aimed at increasing productivity and safety through solid modeling practices, drawing standards, release procedures and regulatory audits.

·        Provide technical support to inside and outside sales personnel and the end customer

·        Provide support for development of technical manuals for assigned projects

·        Provide support to shop during testing & documenting as built configurations to update BOM

·        Producing professional quality drawings to the required company standard

  • Being actively involved as a key member of a cross functional team from concept through to product launch in the new product development process.
  • Completing other special projects or tasks assigned from time to time by the Engineering Manager.

 

Competencies & Behaviors (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

 

·        Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

·        Completion of, or qualified for, accreditation

·        10+ years of related, relevant mechanical engineering experience

·        Excellent communication skills are essential.

·        Extensive Pro/Engineer or other solid modeling experience is required together with a strong technical aptitude. 

·        Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and Lean, Rapid & Profitable new product development principles would be an asset.

·        Results oriented and demonstrates integrity, teamwork, and accountability

Excellent organizational and time management skills.
