We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with a strong background in product development and consultancy, who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about creating exceptional physical products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design and development of complex physical products from concept through to production.
- Define product architecture and drive innovative, manufacturable solutions.
- Manage and coordinate small, multidisciplinary teams across multiple projects.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong, productive relationships.
- Conduct detailed engineering analysis including calculations, GD&T, DFM, FEA, and BOM management.
- Oversee prototype builds and hands-on CAD design (SolidWorks preferred).
- Liaise with suppliers and manage verification testing processes.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, with ISO 13485 knowledge highly desirable.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and scope changes effectively.
Required Experience & Skills
- 15–20 years of experience in product development.
- Minimum 5 years in a product design and development consultancy environment.
- Proven track record of creative problem-solving and delivering innovative solutions.
- Deep experience across all phases of product development.
- Strong communication skills with client-facing experience.
- Proactive, flexible, and enthusiastic about working on diverse projects.
- A collaborative team player with a humble and constructive approach.
Technical Expertise
- Extensive experience designing small to large active and passive assemblies across Business, Consumer, and MedTech sectors.
- Familiarity with intricate mechanical systems including motors, gears, belts, fluid management, and mechanism design.
- Knowledge of environmental and durability standards (e.g., UV, IP, IK ratings).
- Proficient in manufacturing processes: injection molding, die casting, extrusion, CNC machining, sheet metal, springs, gears, GRP, and 3D printing.
