Position: Senior Marketing Manager, Content (18 Month Contract)
Job Overview
This position will focus on strategy and execution for building impactful content that tells the unique story of Longo’s to protect and build our brand reputation and appeal with Everyday Food Explorers. As a member of the Marketing team and in coordination with the cross-functional team, the Senior Marketing Manager, Content will be responsible for building the awareness and consideration of Longo’s products and services through storytelling, with particular attention to competitive differentiators around freshness, service and Private Brands. Key areas of focus are strategically leading and evolving the development of the Longo’s Experience magazine, with amplification across all media and owned channels, including social platforms and PR touchpoints. The role will manage social media strategy, planning and creation, as well as proactive and reactive PR to elevate our brand affinity and reputation, aligned with business priorities. The role will create and support fact-based recommendations and decision making about communications and media across all channels, including in-store.
Reporting to the Director, Integrated Content and Media, the role will work directly with internal departments (i.e. Merchandising, Operations, Sustainability) and external partners (ie. Agencies, Vendors) to strategize and coordinate planning, production, and execution of key projects and initiatives. This role actively looks for opportunities to further enhance storytelling communication to improve the Guest experience, drive sales growth and maximize revenue. The senior manager in this role will be a strong, proactive team player with exceptional communication skills who can manage multiple priorities with a strong attention to building alignment and managing executional excellence.
Accountabilities
- Drive strategy and lead the execution of storytelling content through all channels. Ensure planning and execution calendar lines up to the organization’s strategic pillars, competitive pyramid, and priorities.
- Lead Experience Magazine strategy, planning and execution including both editorial and visual representation in alignment with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop content that is optimized for impactful storytelling across both traditional print and digital channels.
- Manage Proactive and Reactive PR. Be first point of contact with PR agency and ensure alignment with monthly/quarterly planning and ad hoc requirements.
- Manage inbound requests from internal and external stakeholders and ensuring timely and responsive feedback.
- Ensures project deliverables are met and satisfy business requirements.
- Lead Social Media storytelling content through aligned calendar, including integration within the monthly/quarterly planning and ad hoc requirements. Help to evolve the content with changing needs of the business, Guests, Vendors, partners and media channel optimization.
- Overall responsibility for performance of direct reports and distribution of responsibilities

- Determines advertising and communication requirements, implement changes if required
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
- Post-secondary degree in Business, Marketing, Journalism, Advertising, Communications, or related field
- 8 or more years of relevant experience, ideally in a food/retail environment
- Self-motivated, organized, strong attention to detail and able to multi-task and prioritize jobs to meet deadlines
- Exceptional strategic ability, project and change management skills to lead and inspire teams about content, creative, and asset management professionals to achieve business goals
- A strong understanding of creative direction (editorial sense), production, digital and performance marketing, retail process/commercialization and communication best practices
- Strong can-do approach and sense of service – genuine care to understand and identify needs and take initiative to problem solve with internal/external partners
- Position is directly responsible to ensure we are meeting project timelines, budgets, planning, scheduling, and execution on multiple projects.
- Strong knowledge of company policies, procedures and practices across multiple departments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills – Office suite, MAC and familiar with graphic software such as Adobe Illustrator
- Strong problem-solving skills
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a standard office environment with participation in meetings and conference calls
- Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities
- Travel to various stores in the GTA as required
- Work conditions include occasional periods of moderate physical effort
