How will I help?
The 2nd Line Assurance team is part of the Chief Operating Office in Risk Division and is accountable for delivering the annual Coordinated Assurance plan.
As an Senior Manager in the 2nd Line Assurance team, you will play a key role in the delivery and execution of assurance reviews to provide insight, oversight and challenge of risk management in large-scale projects and transformation initiatives in Westpac. This role will have a key focus on UNITE, which is a multi-billion technology simplification program for the Bank.
Key Accountabilities:
- Coordinate and execute Assurance reviews to ensure the effective governance and quality of change execution risk within the UNITE Program (delivery and delivered risks)
- Deliver thematic and deep dive Assurance reviews that comply with the requirements of the 2nd Line Assurance Standard. This includes the assessment of key controls for design and operating effectiveness to ensure that key risks and obligations are appropriately managed.
- Partner and collaborate with senior stakeholders, including Divisional 2LOD teams and the UNITE Program to ensure that both delivery and delivered risks are effectively managed
- Produce effective and insightful reporting to program steering committees, risk committees and governance forums.

What do I need?
You will bring 7+ years of expertise in assurance, risk, transformation, governance, internal audit, or similar assurance roles. Your ability to influence, build strong relationships, and develop strategic recommendations through data-driven insights will be key to success. A proactive, results-oriented mindset and a strong customer focus will set you apart.
To thrive in this role, you will have:
- Extensive experience in project assurance – overseeing risk, governance, compliance, and risk management across complex, large-scale transformation projects.
- Deep knowledge of project management methodologies – strong practical expertise in Agile frameworks, along with hands-on experience using project software and tools.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder influence – the ability to engage senior leadership and drive impactful decision-making.
- Proven ability to craft and present insightful reports – delivering comprehensive risk analyses to governance forums, program steering committees, and risk committees.
- Bonus: Prior experience in risk reviews within Westpac, especially UNITE initiatives.
- Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills – fostering collaboration and ensuring seamless project execution.
