Senior Manager - Legal Project Management position. This position may be filled remotely, or in any of our locations.
The Senior Manager - Legal Project Management is responsible for supporting the Senior Director - Legal Operations in the development and implementation of the Husch Blackwell LPM Program Standards. Additionally, this position provides support and guidance to attorneys in the areas of scope of work development, budget development, process planning, communication plan development and post project review. The Senior Manager oversees the firm's LPM software. Essential job functions include:
- Assist attorneys in defining client value perspective.
- Identify and evaluate market trends and opportunities with respect to legal service delivery models, cost structures and client service; identify factors affecting our delivery of value on client engagements and propose/coach attorneys on methods to improve.
- Responsible for the statistical analysis and development of task based billing trend reports. Work closely with attorneys and pricing team to propose appropriate fee arrangements based on quantitative data.
- Assist in publishing influential LPM success stories.
- Direct & coordinate with PSC Leaders on the implementation of efficient processes associated with the most commonly used matter types.
- Assist PSC leaders in identifying unprofitable matter types and propose solutions for improvement.
- Organize and conduct client (and client team) LPM meetings, provide documentation and implementation support to achieve defined objectives.
- Assist in firmwide LPM training efforts including co-conducting workshops, PSC presentations, SBU presentations and client team presentations
- Identify opportunities for streamlining the legal service delivery process through technology improvements, business process reengineering or other approaches.
- Supervise ongoing development of client budgets and monthly tracking of actual performance against budgets to assist in internal engagement management as well as external client reporting, if needed.
- Coordinate the administrative oversight of legal project management initiatives for specific clients.
- Regularly assist or present to internal groups on pricing, profitability, legal project management and law firm economics.
- Responsible for the management of the Legal Project Management Team.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s Degree in related field preferred; or commensurate professional and educational experience.
- 7 years of progressive expertise in related area required.
- Substantial experience in the area of project management, implementation of project management disciplines, including working directly with partner level client managers required; experience in an LLP partnership structure strongly preferred.
- Robust knowledge of legal staffing, budgeting, profit modeling and project management tools required; ability to identify client’s value perspective and assist partners in aligning their legal service delivery to that perspective.
- Ability to analyze and interpret information from a variety of sources, apply critical and creative thinking to draw conclusions or develop solutions to complex problems.
- Familiarity with data warehouse extraction and budget platforms required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in all Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel and MS Project or similar Project Management software.

Compensation And Benefits
Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience.
The exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. The expected compensation ranges for this position in various states and jurisdictions are as follows:
State of California: $125,000 - $239,000
State of Colorado: $115,000 - $205,000
State of Illinois: $113,000 - $219,000
Jersey City, NJ: $136,000 - $246,000
State of Maryland: $121,000 - $184,000
State of Massachusetts: $125,000 - $239,000
State of Minnesota: $125,000 - $207,000
State of New York: $116,000 - $251,000
State of Washington: $121,000 - $230,000
Washington, D.C.: $161,000 - $237,000
The above salaries do not include a discretionary bonus, however bonus opportunities are non-guaranteed, and are dependent upon individual and firm performance.
