Purpose of the Role::

We are strategically growing our Insurance Services division and are looking for a Senior Manager, Insurance Services to support the successful implementation of our multi-year growth strategy for insurance operations. The mandate of this role includes defining the strategy and leading the growth of our Insurance operations with an emphasis on team scalability, maximizing the client experience, and managing the change associated with team growth and operational enhancements. The manager will work in a highly collaborative way across the Private Wealth team to provide superior client service and manage key external relationships with insurance companies to ensure that Nicola Wealth is on top of evolving industry and product developments.

Core Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Scalability:

  • Develop and execute a plan to ensure a high performing Insurance Services Team is in place to deliver on growth targets, focusing on top talent, operational excellence and client experience.
  • Embed the client experience in Insurance Services operations; ensure the right expertise is in place to deliver against client experience goals.
  • Identify individual and team capabilities, expertise and skills required to deliver on the strategy; develop and execute a plan to ensure these are in place, through development and recruitment of top talent.
  • Lead, manage, coach and develop a high performing Insurance Services team through effective performance management, team engagement and personal and professional growth.
  • Lead team through change and transformation as we grow, adapting operations, structure, process and technology platform, and integrate digital capabilities to support future growth.

Operational Excellence:

  • Accountability for the effective execution of all day-to-day operations of the Insurances Services division, including but not limited to effective underwriting, in-force management, systems and processes, reporting and database management.
  • Optimize productivity and operational excellence through continuous review of processes and procedures, identifying and implementing opportunities for enhanced efficiency, consistency and service delivery.
  • Ensure effective communication and relationship management with key stakeholders and partners, within and outside of Nicola Wealth.
  • Ensure effective audit and risk management processes are in place and adhered to in relation to insurance operations, including insurance applications, contracting, case management.
  • Handle escalated Insurance Service issues and resolve them in a positive and timely manner.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience leading an insurance services team is essential.
  • A minimum of 7 years experience leading a team.
  • A University degree, or college diploma in a related field.
  • Experience in a dynamic and fast paced, entrepreneurial environment requiring superior prioritization skills.
  • LLQP certification required.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Insurance software and products.
  • Membership in Advocis /CALU an asset.
  • Advanced MS Word, Excel Outlook and CRM skills. Experience with other productivity, reporting resource management tools is an asset.
  • You are legally eligible to work in Canada for any employer.

Compensation & Benefits Package:

This position comes with a base salary range of $112,000 - $140,000 plus a competitive performance bonus, RRSP contribution and participation in our profit-sharing program. Base salary will be commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
