Location: Remote
Reports to: Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Team size: ~60 engineers across Dev, QA, and Intern cohorts
Experience required: 10 + years total, 3 + years in a Senior Manager level role
Why this role exists
With multiple production journeys live and more in the pipeline, we need a seasoned leader to create a robust operations layer between the CTO and the broader engineering organization. You will drive day-to-day delivery, process excellence, and people management so our R&D initiatives can stay laser-focused on innovation.
What you’ll own
Delivery & Release Management – Plan, track, and ship sprint and release commitments across multiple product squads; ensure on-time, high-quality delivery.
Process & Governance – Define and evolve SDLC, Agile rituals, quality gates, and compliance controls (PCI-DSS, SOC 2) appropriate for FinTech.
People Leadership – Directly manage Assistant Managers, Dev Leads, and QA Leads; coach on performance, career growth, and hiring.
Stakeholder Management – Serve as the primary engineering interface for Product, Customer Success, and external clients on operational matters.
Resource & Capacity Planning – Align headcount, skills, and tooling with roadmap needs; own budget for engineering operations.
Continuous Improvement – Champion DevOps, observability, and automation to shrink lead times and increase reliability (CI/CD, IaC, SRE practices).
Risk & Incident Response – Coordinate post-mortems, root-cause analyses, and preventive actions for production issues.
Metrics & Reporting – Build dashboards for velocity, quality, and availability; present insights and action plans to the CTO and executive team.
Must-have qualifications
10 + years in software engineering with at least 3 years as a Senior Manager (or higher) leading 30 + engineers.
Hands-on background in web product development; solid grasp of Python / Django– based architectures and cloud (AWS/Azure).
Proven success scaling Agile/DevOps processes in a regulated FinTech or high-compliance environment.
Demonstrated strength in people management: recruiting, mentoring, performance reviews, and succession planning.
Excellent program-management, communication, and client-facing skills.
Nice-to-have
Experience integrating with US banking APIs.
Certifications: PMP, CSM, SAFe, or ITIL.
