Responsibilities

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Senior Manager Agile Product Delivery drives the development, implementation and sustainment of agile and product

management practices and adoption within the strategic framework of BTS and relevant business units, across TransLink

in support of BTS strategic goals. Leads a team of Product Managers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters and Analysts.

Key Accountabilities

Leads the transformation and delivery of Agile & Product Management methodology, including the development

of strategies, plans, processes, and best practices.

Provides direction, leadership, mentorship and support to Product Managers and Product Owners in the

development of product visions, roadmaps and delivery plans and serves as a point of escalation for issue

resolution related to the strategic direction of assigned products.

Leads, defines, measures, and monitors product teams’ performance objectives for quality and service excellence.

Develops and monitors KPIs and/or metrics to measure the success of the product teams.

Coaches and supports product managers and product owners in the communication of product visions and

roadmaps to senior management and BTS stakeholders to ensure alignment of goals and plans.

Leads the development of business cases to secure capital and/or operating funding for product teams. Plans,

manages, and reports on capital and operating budgets. Manages overall budget for product delivery as well as

Agile practice improvement.

Develops risk management strategies to manage portfolio risks and ensure they are identified, understood,

managed, and reported.

Drives the central coordination of the Agile Portfolio to bring forward new solutions while also ensuring the ongoing

success of existing products by applying customer-centric designs which are feasible, value-add, economically

viable and sustainable throughout its Lifecyle.

Drives and facilitates cross-product program increment planning and coordination to align all product teams to a

shared mission and vision.

Champions and supports the creation and growth of agile communities of practices. Works closely with all groups

to evaluate each team’s agile maturity and develop strategies to address gaps.

Supports Scrum Masters and People Managers to build high-performing product teams through servant

leadership, coaching and training on agile and product domains.

Stays abreast of agile and product management methodologies, frameworks, and industry trends. Leads the team

toward continuous improvement opportunities.

Conducts Agile training and workshops for leaders and team members as needed. Develops and delivers

presentations to various levels of stakeholders and facilitates working sessions to identify resolutions to barriers

to scaling the use of Agile.

Manages employees and contractors including recruiting, development, coaching, performance management and

all other people management practices.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The requirements for this job are acquired through bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science or

related discipline plus eight (8) years progressive experience in working and developing agile programs and running agile teams.

Other Requirements

Advanced knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and techniques pertaining to Agile and Product

Management, with emphasis on Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, Scrumban and SAFe framework) in the

software development life cycle.

Advanced knowledge with independently transitioning teams to a variation of Agile methodology and/or Product

Management.

Advanced knowledge of coaching and mentoring teams on Agile and DevOps process transitions.

Solid understanding of TransLink’s strategic and operational priorities, including the policies, climate and culture

that govern the organization’s political structure.

Solid ability to deploy change management approaches, best practices and tools that will support Agile

Transformation.

Advanced interpersonal and communication skills to provide specialized guidance and expertise to managers and

staff; and to develop and manage critical relationships at all levels in the enterprise.

Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to handle conflict resolution, facilitating discussion and alternatives

of different approaches.

Solid leadership skills with ability to manage and influence direct or indirect reporting staff, and to provide

specialized guidance and expertise to all levels of the organization.

Knowledge of Organizational Change Management practices (I.e. PROSCI or similar methodology).

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

Work Schedule

37.5 hours per week.

Work Designation

Hybrid

This position offers the flexibility of working both on-site and remotely within B.C.

Rate of Pay

Salary $117,600 - $176,400 per annum (Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity).
