Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Senior Mainframe Developer / Programmer and Tester with over 12+ years of experience in design, development, maintenance, testing, and production support of enterprise mainframe applications. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, and z/OS, and have strong analytical skills for debugging, performance tuning, and impact analysis in large-scale, mission-critical environments on IBM mainframe systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze, design, and develop complex mainframe applications using IBM mainframe technologies: COBOL, DB2, JCL, CICS, VSAM on z/OS.
• Develop and execute unit, integration, system, and regression testing strategies with a focus on quality and performance.
• Perform impact analysis, code reviews, and provide production support including root cause analysis of job failures and system issues.
• Collaborate with business analysts, QA, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver robust solutions.
• Implement change requests, enhancements, and bug fixes in adherence to SDLC processes.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and provide technical leadership to junior team members.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, system flowcharts, and functional specifications.
• Utilize tools such as XPEDITOR, File-AID, QMF, SPUFI, Control-M, Changeman, and Endevor for development and support.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance in all deliverables.
• Work efficiently in z/OS environments and understand core IBM mainframe system utilities and subsystems.
  
  

Must-Have Skills:

• Strong experience in IBM z/OS mainframe environment
• Expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2 (SQL), CICS, VSAM
• Proficiency in mainframe testing including use of test tools (e.g., XPEDITOR, File-AID)
• Deep knowledge of SDLC, Agile, and Waterfall methodologies
• Production support experience with problem-solving and debugging capabilities
• Familiarity with IBM utilities and batch scheduling tools such as Control-M
• Strong working knowledge of SPUFI, QMF, File Manager, Changeman
• Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills
  
  

Good-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with IMS-DB, PL/I, or Assembler
• Knowledge of ETL workflows, Informatica, or data migration strategies
• Familiarity with DevOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud migration for legacy systems
• Understanding of integration tools, Web Services, SOAPUI, and APIs
• Domain experience in banking, insurance, or financial services
  
  

Educational Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Relevant certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Mainframe Professional, ITIL, Agile Scrum Master) are a plus
