Summary

As a Senior Machine Operator, reporting directly to the Lead hand of Machining and the Production Supervisor. Your primary responsibilities will include operating CNC machinery, reading blueprints, and setting up CNC lathes and Mills to ensure precision in production. With a strong foundation in mechanical knowledge and machining, you will contribute to maintaining high-quality standards and efficient manufacturing processes. Your skills in CNC coding and familiarity with various tools will enhance our operational capabilities, making you a vital asset in achieving our production goals. Join us to drive excellence in our manufacturing operations. This is a full time permanent role with a 40 hour work week.


Roles and responsibilities:

  • Operate a CNC Mill to create various production parts.
  • Operate a Manual and CNC Lathe
  • Operate a Band saw and friction welder.
  • Operate various other production related machines as requested.
  • Support Junior Operators with Machine set up.
  • Adjust offsets and code if needed to produce accurate parts.
  • Assemble parts as they come off the machine.
  • Follow and interpret work instructions and/or drawings for all Machining processes.
  • Inspect parts/product for quality and specs.
  • Changeover and set up various production machines
  • Operate and maintain basic hand tools, power tools and measuring instruments.
  • Record production data.
  • Participate in trouble shooting and maintenance activities.
  • Assist lead hand with the setting up and programing of new programs.
  • Tool CNC machines as needed to meet required specs
  • Make necessary adjustments to the Lathe, friction welder and CNC machines before starting a new order.
  • Help be a mentor/training instructor for any new Jr Machine Operators.
  • Perform and learn various production tasks such as but not limited to machining and assembly as requested.
  • Related duties as requested by management.


Requirements

  • Proven experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing environment (3 plus years or equivalent education)
  • Post secondary education in a relevant field is an asset.
  • Strong ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with basic CNC programming.
  • Ability to operate a Manual and CNC Lathe.
  • Ability to perform both Machine set up and tooling.
  • Ability to use various measurement tools (I.E vernier, micrometer)
  • Basic to intermediate understanding of G & M code.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with tools and manufacturing processes.
