Senior Linux Engineer

London - (On-site or Hybrid, based on business needs)

We're looking for a seasoned Senior Linux Engineer to take the lead in shaping and optimizing our enterprise Linux infrastructure. Based in London, this role is ideal for a hands-on technical expert with extensive experience in designing and supporting robust Linux environments across hybrid platforms.

The Role

• Lead the architecture, implementation, and support of Linux systems (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE)
• Tune performance, manage updates, and ensure system scalability and resilience
• Drive automation using Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
• Develop and maintain shell scripts and tools for infrastructure efficiency
• Implement Infrastructure as Code practices and configuration management
• Administer virtualization (VMware, KVM) and cloud-native platforms (AWS EC2, Azure VMs)
• Support container platforms like Docker, Podman, and Kubernetes orchestration
• Collaborate with security teams to ensure hardened systems and compliance standards
• Lead disaster recovery planning and support business continuity efforts
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response for production-critical environments
• Act as a technical SME, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to strategic direction
  
  

What You’ll Bring

• Extensive hands-on experience in Linux engineering and system administration
• Expert-level knowledge of RHEL and other major Linux distributions
• Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python, Perl) and automation frameworks
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid deployments
• Deep understanding of networking, firewalls, and security in Linux environments
• Strong leadership, documentation, and cross-team collaboration skills
• Familiarity with monitoring tools: Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack
  
  

Nice To Have

• RHCE or other relevant certifications
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and GitOps workflows
• Working knowledge of IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Exposure to ITIL practices and enterprise ITSM tools like ServiceNow or Remedy
