Your Role And Responsibilities

We’re seeking a Support Engineer with extensive experience in Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies who will collaborate closely with software engineers, SRE, DevOps, and development teams to ensure the stability and performance of our systems while providing technical support for IBM Kubernetes and OpenShift Kubernetes hosted in IBM Cloud.

Scope Of Responsibilities

  • Analyze complex issues in a disciplined manner and communicate solutions and workarounds to customers.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface, coordinating between customers and/or IBM representatives.
  • Provide recommendations for improvements to existing technical support tools, procedures, and processes.
  • Monitor system health using observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.).
  • Manage infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform.
  • This position is from Monday to Friday with flexibility to work an occasional Saturday or Sunday for holiday coverage*

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

  • 3+ years of experience working directly with customers e.g. Technical Support
  • 5+ years of experience Kubernetes (IBM, AWS, Azure) and OpenShift (Red Hat technologies)
  • Strong expertise in Kubernetes (EKS, GKE, AKS, or self-managed clusters).
  • Proficiency with observability and logging tools.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux systems and networking fundamentals.
  • Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration
  • Certification Kubernetes Administrator (e.g. OpenShift Administration) is a huge advantage.

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

  • Programming/Scripting experience e.g. Terraform knowledge of container technology and Kubernetes
  • Experience with service meshes (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
  • Familiarity with container runtime alternatives (e.g., containerd, CRI-O).
  • Background in high-availability and disaster recovery strategies.
