Overview

An established technology consultancy is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join their London-based team. This role involves working on high-impact, client-facing projects within the financial services sector, supporting the delivery of complex backend systems and business-critical software solutions.

You’ll join a collaborative engineering environment and play a key role in design, development, and deployment activities, working closely with client stakeholders and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services using Java
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and Agile ceremonies
• Work with client stakeholders to understand and translate business requirements
• Ensure best practices across code quality, testing, and performance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support deployment and optimisation

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial experience with Java
• Strong knowledge of core Java concepts (concurrency, collections, JVM performance, etc.)
• Proven experience working on client-facing projects (not just internal systems)
• Comfortable in Agile environments with strong communication skills
• Full right to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available)

Desirable

• Background in financial services (e.g. banking, trading, payments)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure)
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and test automation tools
