The Senior IT Business Analyst will be responsible for extensive business analysis support of Starr Companies Underwriting applications. The Candidate will work closely with the Product Owner, Technical Lead and other IT BA to contribute to the product strategy on any number of challenging initiatives. This will require in-depth analysis of user requirements, build Features / User Stories using Agile/Scrum, provide mockups, data mappings, coordinating integration points and assist in testing as needed. Candidate should be well versed in the Agile approach. Often this requires a hybrid approach when complex projects require work from external partners and internal development teams as well. Additionally, the candidate will provide maintenance and support of assigned production application, interact with stakeholders at many levels of the organization, from analysts to senior management across multiple departments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide in-depth and sophisticated analysis with interpretive thinking to define problems, develop innovative solutions, and influence strategic functional decisions for complex projects.
* Identify and communicate risks & issues, and propose risk mitigation options, considering business implications.
* Develop expertise in the functionality, operation and integration points of the assigned application.
* Collaborate with product owner to analyze and prioritize business requirements, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and stakeholder needs
* Provide data driven insights and detailed documentation to support informed decision-making and effective backlog management.
* Conduct and lead requirement gathering sessions independently, ensuring all stakeholders inputs are captured and documented comprehensively.
* Utilize visual aids such as flowcharts, diagrams, and wireframes to effectively communicate complex requirements and enhance stakeholder understanding.
* Create mockups using Balsamiq for review with Stakeholders, Business SMEs and use by the Delivery team.
* Proactively communicate risks, dependencies and status updates to the product owner, management enabling timely decision making without dependency or additional follow ups.
* Maintain clarity and consistency in all interactions, actively addressing questions or concerns to promote transparency and mutual understanding within the team.
* Collaborate closely with the technical lead to analyze and design solutions for technical requirements.
* Work with Product Owner, Technical Lead, Stakeholders and Business SMEs to document process flows for functional improvements and enhancements.
* Develop unambiguous user stories using the "Given-When-Then" Format. Ensure clear acceptance criteria that align with business requirements and facilitate seamless implementation.
* Maintain robust change control mechanism to evaluate and manage new requirements preventing scope creep while safeguarding project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
* Create data mapping documents to define integrations with external / internal systems
* Troubleshoot 2nd level production support issues and manage production support tickets in ticketing system.
* Plan and facilitate user acceptance testing with business stakeholders to obtain user acceptance test signoff
* Demonstrate self-motivation and accountability by taking full ownership of assigned tasks.

Skills/Experience Required:
* Minimum 5 years' experience in working with Agile teams for writing user stories and iterative development (sprints).
* Minimum 5 years' experience in working with Agile project methodology.
* Minimum 2 years' experience as a Senior IT Business Analyst, insurance data analyst or similar role in the Commercial P&C industry.
* Experience with SQL/data reporting tools preferred.
* Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Intellectual curiosity and desire to seek new challenges.
* Self-motivation and prioritization of tasks & actions to hit deadlines according to business priorities.
* Experience handling 2nd-level production support issues.
* Proficient in the use of MS Azure Devops, MS Office/MS Visio products.
* Able and willing to handle multiple tasks and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York, Starr Insurance Companies is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets: experience and training: licensure and certifications: and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $130,000-$140,000.
