Summary

Within the Group Chief Transformation Office function, we are looking for a talented and proactive resource to join the Group Innovation team, who will play a critical role in shaping and executing Generali's global innovation strategy, managing high-impact projects that drive business transformation, and accelerating value creation through strategic innovation initiatives.


Key responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Full operational management of Generali’s Innovation Fund, including both the Early Stage Engine and the Acceleration Engine, ensuring proper governance, pipeline quality, milestone tracking, and budget efficiency across all funded initiatives
  • Leading the Early Stage Engine by scouting, evaluating, and launching disruptive ideas in collaboration with internal stakeholders, startups, and ecosystem partners. Supporting project sponsors in opportunity framing, prototyping, and early validation
  • Steering the Acceleration Engine, overseeing the scaling of mature innovation projects with demonstrated business potential. Guiding initiatives toward industrialization and measurable business outcomes.
  • Designing and implementing best-in-class innovation governance frameworks, investment criteria, and evaluation methodologies for funding decisions
  • Acting as a central point of contact between the Group Innovation function and business units across geographies, aligning innovation activities with broader corporate strategies and financial goals.
  • Coordinating innovation sprints, ideation workshops, and challenge programs to stimulate internal innovation and employee engagement
  • Identifying emerging trends, technologies, and startups relevant to the insurance industry and integrating them into the innovation roadmap.
  • Collaborating with external innovation hubs, venture builders, incubators, and academia to enrich the innovation pipeline and enhance Generali’s positioning within the global innovation ecosystem
  • Providing regular reporting to senior executives and committees on project progress, ROI, strategic alignment, and learnings from experimentation
  • Representing Generali in global forums, innovation summits, and cross-industry think tanks as a thought leader and brand ambassador


Requirements

Our ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Master’s degree in STEM or any related field. PhDs or demonstrated engagement across multiple academic disciplines will be considered a plus
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in innovation management, corporate transformation, venture building, intrapreneurship
  • Proven track record of driving end-to-end innovation programs, from ideation through to scaled implementation, preferably within large, complex, and global organizations
  • Experience in the re/insurance sector is highly valued, especially in roles that intersect business strategy and emerging technologies
  • Deep knowledge of innovation methodologies such as Design Thinking, Lean Startup, Agile, and systems thinking
  • Familiarity with open innovation ecosystems, startup collaboration models, venture capital dynamics, and innovation governance
  • Strong grasp of the evolving tech landscape (AI, IoT, blockchain, etc.) and their potential application in the insurance sector
  • Ability to assess and articulate the business impact of innovation initiatives, with a sharp focus on ROI, time-to-value, and scalability
  • Excellent written and spoken English is required. Any other language is a plus
