Job Overview
An Information Technology (IT) Director manages and oversees all aspects of an organization's IT infrastructure, systems, and operations. They are responsible for developing and implementing IT strategies, leading the IT team, ensuring data security, and aligning IT initiatives with business goals. They also manage the IT budget and resources, and oversee the deployment and maintenance of IT hardware and software.
Key Responsibilities
- Server Management & Maintenance
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows servers, including Domain Controller, Multi domain, Multi Forest, Metadata Cleanup, DNS, DHCP.
- Experience on Domian Migration.
- Monitor and optimize server performance to meet organizational standards and requirements.
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery by implementing appropriate backup and restore procedures.
- Automate routine tasks, deployments, and monitoring through scripting (PowerShell, VBS or similar).
- Troubleshooting & Incident Management
- Resolve complex server-related issues and escalations from L1 and L2 support teams.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for critical incidents and recommend long-term solutions.
- Maintain incident documentation and implement knowledge-sharing procedures.
- Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain security configurations to safeguard server infrastructure, adhering to best practices and organizational policies.
- Perform regular audits, vulnerability assessments.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and maintain up-to-date security policies.
- Capacity Planning & Optimization
- Analyse server utilization and plan for future capacity needs.
- Implement optimization techniques to improve resource utilization and performance.
- Provide input on server hardware, software, and storage requirements.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Document server configurations, changes, processes, and best practices.
- Prepare regular performance reports and metrics for management review.
- Collaboration & Mentorship
- Collaborate with other IT teams to support cross-functional projects and initiatives.
- Provide mentorship and training to L1 and L2 administrators to develop their technical skills.
- Cloud Operations Management: - Oversee day-to-day cloud operations, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability. Implement and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans, Design and construct scalable, reliable, and secure cloud architectures. Oversee the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of cloud-based solutions
- Well Versed/Working Experience on Azure IAAS, PAAS, Azure Networking (Load Balancer, WAF, Application Gateways, Virtual Network, Express Route, Network Watcher, Traffic Manager, Azure DNS)
- Well Versed/Working Experience Azure VM’s, AVD Infrastructure.
- Well Versed/Working Experience Windows Auto Pilot.
- Well Versed/Working Experience with Entra ID, CAP.
- Well Versed/Working Experience on Managing Windows, MAC/iOS via Intune (MAM, MDM, Compliance Policies/Policies, Auto pilot)
- Well Versed/Working Experience on Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, One Drive, Microsoft Teams.
- Well Versed/Working Experience on Cloud management strategies, Cloud Automation, Cloud Monitoring.
- Well Versed/Working Experience on managing cloud costs/Optimization.
- Virtualization/Data Center Management
- Well Versed/Working Experience on Vmware, Hyper-V
- Well Versed/Working Experience on V2V, P2V migration.
- Well Versed/Working Experience on VMware/vSphere - HA, DRS, VM, vmdk, distribution switch/standard switch, vmotion,Storage Vmotion
- Well Versed/Working Experience on vSphere/Vcenter upgradation/patching.
- Well Versed/Working Experience on Vsan/Nutanix
- Well Versed/Working Experience on 3 Tier Architecture & HCI
- Well Versed/Working Experience on Storages/SAN/NAS
- Well Versed/Working Experience on Different vendors Servers Hardware (HP, Dell, IBM, Cisco)
- Well Versed/Working Experience on Datacentre monitoring, Datacentre Management, Datacentre build.
- Well Versed/Working Experience/Manage Servers/Storages/SAN Switches Firmware/Hardware upgradations.
- Datacentre's/Hardware Inventory & Costing management.
8.Experience/Knowledge on tools like SolarWinds, Ad manager, Mimecast, Tanium, Desktop Central, WSUS.
9. Developing and implementing policies, procedures, and processes to improve IT operations and increase efficiency and productivity.
10. Managing technology vendors and service providers to ensure that the organization's technology needs are met.
11. Maintaining a strong understanding of the organization's business needs and working closely with other departments to ensure that IT is aligned with those needs.
12. Managing the IT budget and ensuring that expenses are in line with the organization's financial goals.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 12+ years of experience in server administration, with at least 10 years’ experience in Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, SFTP, or L3 capacity.
- Experience: 12+ years of experience on O365, with at least 10 years’ experience in Exchange Online, Intune, Entra iD, Microsoft Teams, Sharepoint Online, One Drive
- Certifications: Certifications such as MCSE or similar are highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Operating Systems: Expert knowledge in Windows Server.
- Virtualization: Strong experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or similar platforms.
- Scripting: Advanced scripting skills in PowerShell, VBS, or Bash.
- Networking: Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs).
