Role Summary:
The Senior Hybrid Editor is a vital member of the Moving Image team, responsible for delivering high-end TVCs, branded films, and premium video content that combines technical precision with creative artistry. This role requires a deep understanding of storytelling, pacing, and audience engagement to craft visually compelling narratives that evoke emotion, enhance perceived production value, and align seamlessly with creative intent.
The editor must possess advanced editing skills and a meticulous eye for detail, ensuring deliverables meet broadcast standards, title safety, and technical specifications while maintaining emotional resonance and visual impact. They are adept at working with varying levels of input whether no brief, partial briefs, or detailed instructions and thrive in collaborative environments, partnering with creatives, producers, and strategists to bring concepts to life. Confident communicators, they can articulate their creative decisions, adapt to evolving trends, and proactively solve challenges.
This role demands strong instincts, adaptability, and efficiency, enabling the editor to handle incomplete briefs, tight timelines, and fast-paced workflows without compromising quality. Intermediate skills in Adobe After Effects are essential for animating text and objects, alongside a self-driven approach to learning new treatments and styles when required.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Craft emotionally engaging edits with exceptional storytelling, pacing, and rhythm.
- Collaborate effectively with creatives, producers, and strategists to interpret scripts, storyboards, and briefs, asking thoughtful questions to clarify ambiguity.
- Take ownership of projects, driving them to completion even when provided with limited direction or resources.
- Source and integrate sound effects, stock footage, and music from approved libraries, performing intermediate-level sound design and mixing to ensure cohesive audio-visual experiences.
- Animate text and objects using Adobe After Effects, staying informed on current animation trends and proactively learning new techniques to match creative treatments.
- Maintain clean and organized workflows, ensuring seamless handoffs and rigorous quality checks throughout the post-production process.
- Adapt quickly to tight deadlines, employing efficient processes and creative problem-solving to deliver high-quality outputs within short timeframes.
- Continuously refine editing approaches by staying informed about industry trends, platform requirements, and audience preferences.
Requirements:
- At least 8 years of experience in the industry, with a proven track record of editing high-end TVCs, branded films, or premium video content.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and intermediate skills in Adobe After Effects.
- Familiarity with Photoshop and Illustrator, with the ability to open, modify, and incorporate provided artwork into After Effects and Premiere workflows.
- Strong technical expertise, including knowledge of broadcast standards, codecs, proxies, timecodes, EDL/XML workflows, and standards conversions.
- Ability to produce polished edits that balance technical precision with emotional impact, elevating storytelling and perceived production value.
- A collaborative mindset, able to work closely with teams to execute creative visions while navigating ambiguous or incomplete briefs.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating creative decisions and providing clear updates to stakeholders.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and maintain consistency across deliverables.
- Demonstrated ability to handle tight timelines and fast-paced workflows, optimizing time management through strategic use of templates, shortcuts, and efficient processes while maintaining professional standards.
- Flexible editing style, adaptable to diverse project types, formats, and audiences.
- A degree or diploma in film production, media studies, post-production, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory if backed by significant industry experience.
