As a Senior Hardware Engineering Manager, you will join a team that serves as the engineering lead for the Speech Generating Devices and Accessories product area. You will oversee a cross-functional team of engineers and guide them to deliver excellent hardware products that align with Tobii Dynavox’s product strategy. Your team will be responsible for developing innovative, reliable solutions that empower people with disabilities to do what they once did or never thought possible. This role blends strategic leadership, technical expertise, and operational excellence to ensure that the products meet customer needs, comply with industry regulations, and are ready for scalable production

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the engineering team in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining speech-generating devices and accessories, ensuring technical excellence and scalability.
  • Act as the engineering lead for the product area, collaborating with Product Management, UX Design, and Program Management to define and execute the strategy
  • Oversee and approve technical decisions, resource allocations, project plans, and timelines to ensure high-quality product delivery on time and within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as ISO 13485, managing risk and delivering reliable medical devices.
  • Manage the hardware development lifecycle from concept through production and post-launch maintenance.
  • Foster a collaborative team culture, mentor team members, and promote continuous learning, innovation, and technical excellence.
  • Approve key project deliverables, budget expenditures, vendor selections, and hiring decisions to align with organizational priorities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support broader company objectives.

What We're Looking For:

We are looking for someone who has a:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering such as Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Software or a related technical field. Master’s degree preferred but not required.
  • 10+ years in engineering, including 5+ years leading multidisciplinary teams (hardware, software, QA), with a track record of delivering hardware products into production.
  • Expertise in medical device regulations and product safety standards such as FDA, ISO 9001, ISO 13485 etc.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly with Product Management, UX Design, and Program Management.
  • Strong understanding of the full product lifecycle from design to manufacturing and scaling hardware products.
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams, fostering empowerment, accountability, and technical excellence.
  • Strong in technical decision-making, strategic planning, agile methodologies, and problem-solving, with a focus on scalability and manufacturability.
