Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Sunrise, FL for a Senior/Staff Hardware Design Engineer at Pixels on Target. In this role, you’ll take ownership of hardware architecture, design, development, and verification. You'll collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary engineering team to build and deliver innovative, high-performance hardware solutions.

Qualifications

1. Hardware & PCB Design Expertise

  • Proficient with PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or KiCad.
  • Strong knowledge of digital and high-speed circuit design.
  • Experienced in schematic design, component selection, layout, and hardware testing.
  • Skilled in designing multi-layer PCBs with high-density interconnects.

2. Embedded Systems Development

  • Proven experience in designing hardware for embedded systems.
  • Familiar with microcontrollers, SoCs, and FPGA architectures.
  • Knowledge of low-power design techniques for energy-efficient applications.

3. System Performance Optimization

  • Ability to evaluate and optimize CPU, memory, and I/O efficiency.
  • Understanding of power consumption, thermal management, and system stability.
  • Experience designing for scalability and system resource optimization.

4. Troubleshooting & Debugging

  • Proficient with hardware debug tools: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters.
  • Comfortable with validation processes and resolving hardware issues in lab environments.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Experience working alongside mechanical, thermal, firmware, and software teams.
  • Effective in supporting system-level debug and hardware/software integration.

6. Hardware Bring-Up & Design Verification

  • Skilled in early-stage bring-up and prototyping.
  • Experience conducting Design Verification Testing (DVT) to ensure reliability and spec compliance.

7. Project Ownership & Release

  • Track record of managing hardware projects from concept to production.
  • Strong documentation practices and understanding of industry standards and release processes.

Additional Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC considerations in PCB design.
  • Familiarity with FPGA/CPLD development, including Verilog/VHDL (a plus).
  • Experience with manufacturing processes and supply chain management for hardware components.
  • Expertise in thermal management and an understanding of thermal design principles.
