Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Full Stack Engineer with a focus on Back End for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Bulgaria. Our client is an American health insurance company headquartered in New York City. The company focuses on the health insurance industry through telemedicine, healthcare-focused technological interfaces, and transparent claims pricing systems, which would make it easier for patients to navigate. Also, the company provides virtual care, doctor support, appointment scheduling, and other related services. It is the first health insurance company built around a full-stack technology platform and a relentless focus on serving members. It employs technology, design, and data to humanize health care. The company offers plans to individuals, couples, and families living in parts of New York, New Jersey, California, and Texas who don’t receive health insurance from an employer.

You will join a tight-knit group of engineers who build systems and products that keep the business running. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with the product engineering teams to architect and develop new tools that improve the client’s ability to provide healthcare efficiently. The project’s team utilizes technology, design, and data to humanize health care.

Overlap till 8 PM Bulgarian time. General on-call rotation is a week long and occurs every 5-6 weeks for each member of the team.

Requirements

• 5 years of experience as a Python Developer in a production environment (for this role, we’re looking for a senior backend or full-stack developer).
• Knowledge of Python and related frameworks like Flask.
• Ability to hit the ground running in a command line and scripting environment.
• Understanding of relational databases like PostgreSQL.
• Experience working with test-driven development and unit test frameworks, as well as robust testing and debugging skills.
• Both an independent individual contributor and a team player with good English communication skills.

• Knowledge of front-end technologies like React (if the candidate has not worked with React before, he/she should be ready to learn it on the project).
• Experience with Kafka and RPC frameworks like gRPC.
  
  

Responsibilities

• Become an expert on your team’s technical stack(s), and gain knowledge on the business domains.
• Plan, implement, and deploy changes following the client’s established software development lifecycle (SDLC) and best coding, testing, and monitoring practices.
• Take part in on-call rotation (week-long, every 5-6 weeks for each team member).
• Produce technical design, test, and launch planning documentation for complex projects and/or projects with complex dependencies.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and fix production issues as they arise.
• Participate in teams’ scrum meetings, collaborate with engineers, and contribute to design and code reviews.
