Meet: Aunty Grace

Founded: 2020

Headcount: 90

Location / Work Style: Melbourne CBD, Hybrid (2 days in office)

Product: B2C mission-driven care platform

Role Type: 12 MFTC

The Story

At Aunty Grace, they’re reimagining what support looks like for older Australians and their families. They provide an easy, compassionate, and modern way for people to access home care services — without the overwhelm. Whether it's helping someone navigate their Home Care Package, find a trusted support worker, or organise essential services like transport, cleaning, or personal care, their goal is simple: to make aging well at home easier, more empowering, and more human.

They believe the aged care experience in Australia shouldn’t feel bureaucratic, confusing, or transactional. It should feel personal. Supportive. That’s where they come in — combining tech, people, and genuine care to offer a better way forward.

As a fast-growing startup backed by a team of health, care, and tech professionals, they’re building digital tools that make life easier for clients, families, and the care coordinators who support them. We’re now looking for a Frontend Web Developer to join their small, high-impact engineering team and help shape the user experience across their platform.

The Role

As a Senior Frontend Web Developer at Aunty Grace, you’ll work closely with the CTO, product designer, and backend engineers to deliver thoughtful, accessible, and performant web experiences. You’ll play a central role in their client and staff portals — working on everything from responsive UI components to authentication flows to real-time interaction patterns.

What You’ll Do:

  • Build and maintain user-facing features using React, Next.js, and TypeScript
  • Work from Figma designs to create responsive, accessible, and reusable components (they use MUI / Devias as their component library)
  • Integrate with backend APIs built in Flask/Python and PostgreSQL
  • Contribute to the structure, scalability, and cleanliness of their frontend codebase
  • Work closely with the designer to refine UI/UX across staff and client portals
  • Help define and evolve their frontend architecture, testing strategy, and deployment pipelines
  • Use tools like GitHub, Datadog, Azure Pipelines, and Auth0 as part of their dev workflow
  • Participate in planning, code reviews, and delivery — they use JIRA to track work

What You Bring To The Role

We’re looking for a developer who cares about the craft of building software — someone who takes pride in writing clean, readable code, but also knows when to be pragmatic and just get things done. You’re probably the kind of person who enjoys solving tricky UI problems, sweating the details on component behaviour, and thinking about how real users will experience what you’ve built. You’re comfortable working autonomously, open to feedback, and not afraid to ask questions or push back when something doesn’t feel right.

You want to work on meaningful problems with people who care — and you’re excited by the idea of contributing to a product that genuinely helps others.

  • Solid experience building frontend web applications with React, Next.js, and TypeScript
  • Strong understanding of modern frontend architecture, API integration, and component-based design
  • Comfortable working with Figma handovers and making UI decisions in collaboration with designers
  • Ability to balance shipping fast with writing maintainable, clean code
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, authentication flows, and state management patterns
  • Bonus: experience in regulated industries, accessibility best practices, or working in cross-functional startup teams
  • Bonus: experience with Python or Auth0 — or interest in learning more

Why Join Aunty Grace?

  • Be part of a mission-driven team making a tangible impact in people’s lives
  • Work with an in office/home hybrid setup with flexibility and trust
  • Collaborate with thoughtful, humble, and passionate humans
  • Opportunity to shape how frontend is done at a growing tech company
  • MacBook dev environment and access to all the tools you need
  • Real ownership and room to grow as they scale
