An exciting opportunity for a Senior FPGA Engineer has arisen with a leading company at the forefront of quantum computing, based in Oxford, UK. The company is pioneering trapped-ion quantum computing, a technology that is set to tackle some of the world’s most complex problems in chemistry, logistics, and finance.


As a Senior FPGA Engineer, you will be central to developing FPGA components for cutting-edge quantum control systems, collaborating with scientists and engineers to improve system reliability and drive innovation. The role involves high-level architectural design, FPGA implementation, and addressing system bottlenecks and instabilities as the company scales its quantum devices.


You’ll be part of a passionate team dedicated to creating the world’s most powerful and scalable quantum computers. The company combines the world-leading performance of trapped-ion qubits with the scalability of semiconductor manufacturing, unlocking immense potential in quantum technology.


The ideal Senior FPGA Engineer will have:

  • Strong experience of FPGA implementation in real-time system contexts
  • Proficiency in SystemVerilog or Migen
  • Solid understanding of real-time hardware/software co-design and debugging
  • Experience with common software languages (Python, Rust, etc.)
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
