Technical accounting & China JVs Accounting and Reporting
- Perform/support GM China and China JVs related accounting and reporting activities (e.g. month-end closing activities, monthly/quarterly reporting and analysis, etc.)
- Review the material/complex contracts and address the accounting issues with comprehensive accounting analysis. Aid JV/business teams in their understanding of accounting implications and impact of transactions/contract terms having on both JV or/and GM China’s financial positions and support for accounting implementation
- Lead the implementation of any new GAAP accounting standards and SEC reporting requirements, GM accounting policies and deliver trainings/provide the guidance to the business team or JV team where necessary
- Identify key issues/risks and address bottlenecks to ensure timely resolution and progress, and develop recommendations to support senior management decision-making
- Maintain/Monitor sound and effective internal control environment over the financial reporting/business operation
- Support and coordinate with external auditors to resolve issues and provide appropriate recommendation
- Lead/support the new projects/business in China in relation to accounting operations and system implementation
- Liaison between JV and GM and support to resolve any issues on accounting operation where needed. Establish strong rapport/business relationships with JV partners/Cross-function/Global functions/external auditors to facilitate communication
- Lead the modernization project to drive the efficiency in GM China and support JV on process enhancement with best practice sharing where needed
- Other ad hoc projects (e.g. review/prepare the materials for local and corporate leadership’s review, etc.)
Knowledge, Experience and Competencies
- Practical skills/knowledge in PRC GAAP (Expert) and US GAAP (Proficient) with ability to apply accounting policies and procedures to business case
- Significant knowledge and practical skills in internal control over financial reporting – SOX
- In-depth understanding and knowledge of multinational companies operating structure, legal, control, system and accounting and financial reporting environment
- Proficiency in Chinese and English oral and written communication
- General IT proficiency, e.g. familiarity with MS Office computer such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.; Python/Power BI/VBA, etc. are a plus
- ERP/accounting system proficiency, e.g. SAP/Hyperion, etc.; system implementation experience is a plus
- Ability to present ideas and interact effectively and comfortably with people at various levels of seniority, both internally and externally, as well as independently manage through influence/ relationships and leverage expertise to assess business needs and determine effective solution
- Results-oriented with strong learning agility
- 8 to 10 years' experience in Big 4 accounting firms and/(or) accounting operations in multinational companies
- Bachelor degree or above; CICPA is a must; CA/AICPA is a plus; MBA or MPA is a plus
