This position can be based at any AAK site in Europe including Zaandijk, Karlsham, Hull, Aarhus, Rotterdam & Antwerp.

About The Role

The primary purpose of an Engineering and Projects Manager is to ensure the successful planning, execution, and completion of engineering projects. This involves managing resources, timelines, budgets, and ensuring that all project objectives are met within the specified constraints. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and leadership abilities to guide teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the project is technically fit for purpose and meet the AAK’s requirements and provide input to project governance reviews.
  • Report on project technical scope performance against the baseline plan and stated benefits of the project.
  • Identify the technical deliverables, based on the scope agreed by the Project Director / Country Manager, and use these as a basis to assist in the provision the project estimates and project execution plan.
  • Responsible for providing the technical support to execution team to ensure that the project will deliver the required benefits and is fit for purpose.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all technical scope change is agreed with the necessary stakeholders prior to implementation through the life of the project.
  • Work with the team to agree technical team resource requirements and milestones and to monitor progress.
  • Provide technical support to the cost controller to allow the generation of estimates at project commencement and for any potential scope change.
  • Facilitate the generation of the technical project risk assessment (including 3rd party contractors) and its ongoing management. Ensure the risk report is agreed and regularly reviewed with the Project Team.
  • Ensure that the technical team and any 3rd party technical contractors adhere to the overall project quality plan throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work with the Project Director/ Country Manager to ensure the appropriate contract is in place for any for any 3rd party contractors. Ensure that all identified contractors are suitably pre-qualified / assured for the delivery of the project,


Provide technical direction to Procurement for the negotiation of the purchase of any good and / or services required for the delivery of the project

About You

  • 10 years manager experience in a similar role in the Fats and Oils Industry and/or Food Industry production and be aware of the engineering standards required for this type of operation.
  • Certified project management professional with 6 years’ experience in project planning, implementation and execution.
  • Degree or higher qualification in Chemistry or Food Engineering and PMI, IPMA, or other recognized project management certification and knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Project.
  • Ability to manage/work in multi-disciplinary teams to ensure projects are effectively and technically delivered to meet timeline and budget, excellent English language skills are required.
  • Willingness to travel internationally, 30-40% of the time.
  • A key part of the role will be the development and continuous improvement of project based on good engineering practice which meet the Business needs.
  • Act as a mentor to other engineers to assist with their daily activities within the project.
  • Experience in managing large projects and greenfield sites is desirable.
  • Proven ability to support multiple projects/tasks with medium to high complexity with a consistent track record of on-time, on-safety and on-quality delivery.
  • Identifies trends and key factors in complex problems, relating external events to organizational impact. Follows up on incomplete information, reconciles inconsistencies, and ensures data accuracy.
  • Carefully checks details for key tasks, tracks multiple priorities, and avoids overlooking important elements.
  • Sets and enforces high standards, taking corrective actions for subpar performance and defining clear expectations.
