Who are we looking for?
As a Senior Engineering Manager/Tech Tribe Lead you will report to the CTO - Products and be the trusted partner of the Business Tribe Lead to ensure delivery of stable, secure, compliant and cost effective solutions. You will be the technical owner of one of our business lines and will be key in maximising the Tribe's success. Together you will develop a roadmap that delivers on the tribe's purpose and Mox’s strategy.

Through defining the Tribe’s tech direction, you will grow and develop the capability of tech professionals in your area and contribute to further growing the engineering culture at Mox.

You will be accountable for system maintenance as the IT asset owner, as well as risk management, security and life cycle management of the Tribe's specific IT assets.

Responsibilities

  • Hierarchically Responsible for around 20 FTE
  • Sets the technical standards for the team and responsible for developing knowledge and fostering a culture of innovation
  • Collaborates with other Tech Tribe Leads and Senior Management to improve the maturity of processes and practices and to facilitate knowledge sharing across teams
  • Coaching and mentoring members of the Tribe
  • Organizes and facilitates tech talks, lunch and learns, hackathons and other sessions to fulfil the objectives of the Tribe
  • Responsible for ensuring that we “build the thing right” and, with the Tribe Lead, ensure that we are “building the right thing.
  • Responsible for attracting and retaining engineering talent


Requirements

  • Strong people and communication skills – this role will involve lots of interactions with people from different roles and backgrounds
  • Strong ability to think in terms of systems rather than siloes
  • Understands implications of maintaining a 24/7, business-critical system
  • Broad experience with different technologies and techniques with relevant specialisms (T-shaped)
  • Fluent with Kotlin and/or Java, Spring Boot and how the JVM works
  • Strong understanding of concepts surrounding relational and document databases
  • Understanding of service-to-service communication using Kafka
  • Experienced a public cloud and container orchestration (we use AWS and Kubernetes)
  • Experience with infrastructure as code
  • Quick learner with an ambitious and results driven personality
  • Ability to negotiate scope to agree to pragmatic deliverables.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment
  • Proven experience in banking/investment technology strategy will be a strong advantage
