About Us

We’re a fast-growing company building next-generation technology infrastructure for the non-standard auto insurance market. As we scale from $30M to $100M in revenue, we’re looking for a VP of Technology/hands on Engineering Manager to lead the charge. This is a unique opportunity to step into a senior leadership role with real ownership, technical depth, and strategic influence.

The Role

As VP of Technology (or CTO, depending on experience), you’ll be the most senior technical leader in the company. You’ll be responsible for managing and restructuring the engineering team, making architectural decisions, and helping drive the company’s technical roadmap.

You’ll work alongside Nestor and report directly to the founder. The current team includes front-end, back-end, DevOps, and architecture support. We need someone who can balance hands-on leadership with big-picture thinking—and help take us to the next level.

Team Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and robust web and mobile applications using JavaScript/TypeScript, NestJS, NextJS, and React Native.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Build RESTful APIs and integrate them with frontend applications for seamless user interactions.
  • Ensure code quality and maintainability through code reviews, testing, and documentation.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, frameworks, and industry trends to continuously enhance our tech stack and development processes.
  • Contribute to the planning, architecture, and implementation of new features and system enhancements.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to deploy and maintain applications on a Google Cloud Kubernetes Cluster.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the engineering function and drive team restructuring for growth
  • Set strategic technical priorities and make key architectural decisions
  • Collaborate with leadership to align technical direction with business goals
  • Guide and mentor a distributed engineering team
  • Roll up your sleeves when needed—whether reviewing code, unblocking a sprint, or defining system architecture
  • Work closely with product, DevOps, and operations teams to deliver scalable solutions
  • Travel quarterly for team alignment and leadership meetings

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong technical background and hands-on engineering experience
  • Proven ability to make strategic technical decisions and set priorities
  • Experience leading or building high-performing engineering teams
  • Comfortable in a startup/growth-stage environment
  • Ability to work autonomously and lead through change

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Spanish language skills
  • Experience in the insurance industry
  • Computer Science degree or Master’s

Compensation & Perks

  • Base Salary: $150K–$250K + Equity
  • Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with 4% match, Unlimited PTO
