Job Description: Microchip's Frequency and Time Systems (FTS) business unit is a growing, world leader in precise time solutions and sets the world's standard for time. The business unit generates, distributes, and applies precise time for the aerospace, defense, communications, IT infrastructure, and metrology industries. Microchip's customers are able to build more reliable networks and systems by using the company's advanced timing technologies, atomic clocks, services, and solutions. Microchip products support today's precise timing standards, including GPS-based timing, IEEE 1588 (PTP), Network Time Protocol (NTP), Synchronous Ethernet, and more. Our Government Systems group in Boulder, CO is seeking a Senior Engineer II- Project Management to join our growing team. In this position, the individual will lead contract and internally funded projects through the full lifecycle (concept through final delivery). Projects consist of R&D new product development and transfer to production, supporting product lifecycle management, supply chain management for prototype hardware, and management of hardware schedule and deliveries to projects. A wide range of technical areas are covered, including frequency and time, GPS/GNSS, PNT (position, navigation, and time), RF and signal processing, metrology, and data analysis. Cutting edge, custom technology is developed and applied to meet our customers' needs and support critical infrastructure and missions. The successful candidate must have experience working in a complex, multidisciplinary development environment. Demonstrated experience leading teams through multiple phases of technology and product development. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is willing and able to lead cross matrixed team(s) to successfully accomplish project tasks, as well as contribute technically to projects as needed. This position requires excellent internal and external communications as the point of contact with partners, owning schedule, forecast, and resource plan creation and execution. The Project Manager also identifies, statuses, and mitigates risks. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the supply chain and experience with hardware tracking and ordering, coordinating with buyers, planners, and vendors, requesting, and negotiating quotes and timeliness establishing alternative solutions, when needed. Requirements/Qualifications: Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, or relevant job experience * A minimum of 7 years of demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: * Project leadership in a structured, multidisciplinary, aerospace/defense contract research, development, and integration environment * Leading project teams through system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews, critical design reviews, and test readiness reviews * Leading product developments through full lifecycle including requirements definition, design, development, test, and sustainment * Managing complex electronics supply chain, including managing vendors, for prototype system development * Product lifecycle management including collaboration with stakeholders to define and execute sustaining projects, end of life parts mitigations, last time buy component tracking and management * Skilled in the use of MS Project, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and MS Word * Effective English language written and oral communication skills * US Citizenship Additional Desired Qualifications: * PMI certification * Government contract proposal generation, contract review, and other business negotiations and development activities * A background in timing, navigation, or GPS/GNSS systems * Candidates with current TS/SCI clearance strongly preferred U.S. Export Controls Requirements: This job requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by the export laws of the United States.
