The opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join our NZ Engineering Services Team, supporting airframe equipment and integration activities across both military and commercial aviation programs.
This is a key role where your engineering expertise will contribute directly to the design, development, and delivery of integrated solutions that meet customer, regulatory, and Airbus standards. You will work within an experienced engineering team and report to the Team Lead, with a focus on delivering quality outcomes aligned with our systems engineering philosophy.
As a Senior Engineer, You Will
- Develop design solutions for airframe equipment and associated integration activities
- Provide design support for airframe repairs across military and commercial platforms
- Lead and mentor engineers, contributing to team growth and capability
- Work in alignment with Airbus policies, processes, and strategic goals
- Support continuous improvement of engineering practices and the broader Engineering Management System
About You
To be successful in this role, it is a requirement to be able to work in a team environment, have well developed relationship skills as well as good verbal and written skills. You will need to be someone who is able to work autonomously and to tight deadlines and work comfortably in a continuous improvement work environment. The skills and experience best suited to this role:
Essential Experience & Knowledge
- 5+ years' experience as a design engineer in the aviation industry
- Strong understanding of relevant regulations (e.g., DASR, CAANZ, CASA)
- Proven expertise in Airframe Equipment & Integration, including Vibration Analysis, FEM, Environmental Qualification, Fluid Dynamics, and more
- Proficiency with Catia V5 and Systems Engineering principles
- Experience coaching and mentoring engineers
- Commercial awareness and cost-effective design decision-making
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or equivalent
- Eligible to obtain DE1 Engineering Authority and RPEQ or equivalent registration
