Summary
Job Title: Senior Energy Engineer
Location: Hybrid to Pittsburgh, PA
Type: Full time, hybrid schedule
Relocation on own expense is OK
Responsibilities:
Identify and implement energy efficiency and cost-saving strategies at customer facilities.
Establish energy baselines and develop measurement and verification (M&V) methodologies.
Quantify utility, operational, and ancillary savings, and prepare financial justification reports.
Build and maintain strong relationships with target customers by clearly communicating the scope of energy efficiency solutions aligned with their business goals and the Company’s sales objectives.
Support the implementation phase of projects, including equipment delivery and installation oversight.
Provide technical sales support and coordinate efforts both internally across teams and externally with clients.
Drive business development by preparing and presenting technical concepts and preliminary findings throughout various stages of project development.
Represent the company when liaising with customer staff and contractors to ensure customer concerns are addressed effectively.
Assist with building audits and identify opportunities for energy and water efficiency improvements.
Support project commissioning and verify that contractors submit accurate as-built drawings reflecting completed work.
Troubleshoot facility-related issues and resolve project-related challenges.
Serve as a subject matter expert in a designated technology area, stay informed about industry innovations, and share expertise with the Engineering Team.
Mentor junior engineers to support their development.
Comply with required background and security screening protocols for access to customer facilities.
Follow all safety protocols established by the Company and customers.
Travel as needed; a valid driver’s license is required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related HVAC industry experience.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in at least one state is preferred.
Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation through the Association of Energy Engineers is preferred.
Must pass required background and security screening for facility access.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in energy engineering, including a foundational understanding of central utility plants, HVAC systems, and Building Automation Systems (BAS).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Solid knowledge of engineering and construction practices in retrofit and renovation projects.
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex assignments.
Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations, codes, and standards.
Strong customer service skills and a commitment to client satisfaction.
Proficient in developing energy efficiency calculations and using spreadsheets.
Effective at managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
Comfortable working under pressure and in fast-paced environments.
Competent with standard computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheet software.
Experience using building modeling tools such as Trane 3D Plus or Carrier HAP.
Skilled in writing clear and concise technical reports.
Capable of collaborating with consultants and facility management staff on energy efficiency initiatives.
Proven ability to lead engineering teams on large-scale projects.
Able to thrive in and contribute to a diverse and inclusive workforce.
