Position Summary Statement
The Employee and Labor Relations Consultant is responsible for interpretation of the Park Nicollet Health Services Human Resource policies and for assuring that employment policies and decisions follow current federal, state, and local employment and labor laws. The Sr. Employee and Labor Relations Consultant advises and supports Park Nicollet’s leaders in the performance management process. This role manages cases with all levels of complexity and acuity utilizing appropriate partners to bring matters to resolution.
This position is responsible for aiding, guidance and education to leaders, employees, and HR partners on all employee/labor relations matters. This role partners with business and physician leadership at all levels on employee relations issues, including but not limited to performance and behavior concerns.
The Sr. Employee and Labor Relations Consultant leads and/or manages Park Nicollet’s responses and brings resolution to employment legal matters, lawsuits, compliance issues, EEOC and MDHR charges and charges from other governmental agencies. The Employee and Labor Relations Consultant may provide labor relations support based on service line assignment.
This role is hybrid and has a requirement for being onsite 3 days per week, however, days are flexible based on business needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
5-7 years of professional level Human Resources background either as a Generalist or an Employee or Labor Relations Specialist.
Bachelor’s degree
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
This position requires a strong understanding and compliance with matters of law, regulatory agencies and internal policies affecting the employment relationship, including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, discrimination, and civil rights, EEOC, The Minnesota Department of Human Rights and The National Labor Relations Act.
Strong verbal and written communication and customer service skills are required.
Strong investigation, problem solving, conflict resolution, coaching and negotiations skills are all critical to this role.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, keyboarding, and Internet. General office equipment is used (Phone, fax, and computer).
Preferred Qualifications
Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Industrial Relations, and Business preferred.
Licensure/ Registration/ Certification
PHR/SPHR certification is desired.
