Position: Senior Electrical Engineer - Utility-Scale PV Solar & BESS

Location: Lakewood, CO (Remote possible for very senior/unicorn candidate)

A growing engineering firm is seeking a seasoned Electrical Engineer to lead the design and development of large-scale photovoltaic (PV) solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects (20MW+). This individual will serve as a technical leader, ensuring quality, compliance, and innovation across various project phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead engineer for utility-scale solar PV system designs.
• Lead electrical design efforts for BESS projects, delivering comprehensive design packages.
• Oversee QA/QC processes for medium voltage (MV) collection system designs.
• Mentor junior engineering staff and support their technical growth.
• Apply expertise in inverter-based technology and system integration.
  
  

Develop And Review Engineering Documents Including

• Single line diagrams
• Collection system layouts
• Communication and wiring diagrams
• Power cable sizing and cable schedules
• Designs in compliance with relevant fire, electrical, and building codes
• participate actively in planning meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  
  

Required Knowledge & Experience

• Strong understanding of NEC, IEEE, and ANSI standard
  
  

Familiarity With Key Electrical Components Such As

• MV/LV switchgear
• Transformers
• Breakers and protective relays
• Inverters, UPS systems, battery chargers
• Disconnect switches, combiner boxes
  
  

Experience With

• Cable sizing and ampacity studies (AC/DC)
• Voltage drop calculations
• Short circuit and reactive power analysis (ETAP or SKM)
• Arc flash assessments (ETAP or SKM)
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• 6-8 years of relevant experience in utility-scale solar PV and BESS
