The Role

We are hiring for a new finance leadership position focused on building and leading our revenue operations and billing strategy from the ground up.

We are looking for someone who understands the mechanics of time-based billing and WIP from direct experience. You’ll need to know how unbilled time builds up, how and when it gets lost, and how to bring visibility, discipline, and performance to that entire cycle. This is not a policy role. It is for someone who will take ownership of billing performance from time entry through to cash collection, and design the infrastructure that makes it all work.

You’ll need to operate confidently in a high expectation, low structure environment. That means fixing what is broken, building what is missing, and leading others toward better systems and behaviour. The work is detailed, complex, and often ambiguous. The impact is firm-wide.

What You’ll Do

• Own and build the full billing operations function, including WIP tracking, time capture, invoicing, and collections
• Introduce structure around partner time entry, project-level budget monitoring, and internal-to-client communication on WIP
• Design and implement weekly WIP reporting to clients, giving them visibility into costs building against their budgets
• Reduce unbilled time and aged WIP through better systems, clearer expectations, and sustained internal communication
• Build and manage tools and workflows to improve visibility into time worked, expenses incurred, and revenue earned
• Work with project leads and legal operations to ensure billing aligns with delivery and meets external guidelines
• Partner with internal product to implement workflow tools and reporting dashboards where none currently exist

What We’re Looking For

• Deep experience with time-based billing in a consulting, legal, or other services business
• Hands-on experience managing and reporting on WIP, unbilled time, collections, and DSO
• Someone who can lead cross-functionally and hold teams accountable for billing performance
• Strong instincts for process design, system build, and data clarity
• Confidence and clarity in working with senior stakeholders, including partners and business unit leads
• Experience operating without a large team or existing structure - this is a builder’s role

You'll be a strategic finance transformation leader, driving end-to-end process improvements that enhance revenue visibility, accelerate collection cycles, and equip project leads with critical financial insights. This high-impact role requires a visionary approach to managing complex, cross-functional change, bringing structure to ambiguity, and delivering tangible value across the organization. With a strong presence and the confidence to engage senior stakeholders, you'll play a pivotal role in redefining financial processes and driving lasting transformation.

US Salary Range

$215,000 to $250,000 base, plus discretionary bonus, 401k contribution, and a competitive benefits package. Actual compensation will depend on level, experience, and qualifications.
