Position: Senior Director – QE Automation

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Sr. Director – QE Risk & Automation to lead and manage our Quality Engineering (QE) and Automation teams. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing the quality, risk management, and automation strategies across core network technologies. You will lead a team of Senior Software Development Engineers in Test (SDETs) and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the performance, security, and scalability of our systems. Your expertise in backend tools, frameworks, DevOps, and core network technologies will be vital in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of our systems.

Roles & Responsibility:

• Lead and manage a high-performing team of Senior SDETs, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and quality.
• Provide mentorship and career development opportunities, ensuring team members grow professionally and excel in their roles.
• Set clear team goals, define performance metrics, and develop individualized career development plans.
• Partner with product managers, engineering leads, and operations teams to align on quality objectives, milestones, and deliverables.
• Ensure alignment of quality assurance practices across engineering, product, and business teams for comprehensive and consistent testing efforts.
• Design, develop, and continuously improve test automation frameworks and tools for backend systems, microservices, REST APIs, and core network components.
• Lead the creation and execution of automated test suites for performance, scalability, security, and mobile app testing.
• Build backend testing tools to validate distributed systems, data migration scenarios, and integration with other core network systems.
• Spearhead performance and scalability testing efforts, ensuring systems can efficiently handle high traffic and meet performance requirements.
• Drive optimization strategies for systems to ensure they are scalable, resilient, and performant under varying loads.
• Lead security testing efforts to identify vulnerabilities and ensure systems comply with industry security standards and regulations.
• Implement comprehensive risk management strategies, identifying and mitigating risks throughout the lifecycle of the product.
• Integrate automation and testing processes with DevOps pipelines, supporting continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) workflows.
• Leverage cloud technologies (especially Amazon AWS) for testing and deployment.
• Oversee deployment strategies such as blue-green deployments and failover scenarios to ensure high availability and system reliability.
• Apply deep knowledge of core network systems and protocols such as IPX, Diameter/RADIUS, LTE/5G roaming, to design and execute comprehensive testing strategies.
• Develop test plans and test cases targeting core network components to ensure compliance with network-specific requirements.
• Continuously assess and integrate new tools, technologies, and practices to improve the efficiency and quality of testing.
• Encourage the adoption of best practices, and mentor team members in the latest tools and methodologies.
• Enhance and extend the automation test library, focusing on performance, scalability, and risk mitigation.
• Lead testing efforts within an Agile/Scrum environment, ensuring alignment with sprint goals, backlog grooming, and daily stand-ups.
• Collaborate with product owners to refine requirements, elaborate on test scenarios, and ensure comprehensive coverage of both functional and non-functional requirements.
• Participate in the execution of white-box, black-box, and manual testing to validate system functionality, integration, and overall quality.
• Oversee the creation and maintenance of comprehensive test plans and test cases, ensuring proper execution and tracking of defects.
• Provide detailed and clear communication regarding test results, defect tracking, and mitigation strategies to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

Desired Profile: -

• 15+ years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance, with a focus on core network technologies such as telecom roaming, Diameter/RADIUS, IPX, 5G/LTE, and big data solutions.
• Proven experience leading and mentoring high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and quality.
• Strong expertise in core network protocols, distributed systems, and applying this knowledge to quality engineering processes.
• Extensive experience designing and implementing test automation frameworks for backend systems, microservices, REST APIs, and large-scale systems.
• Proficiency with tools like Jenkins, Git, Selenium, JUnit, Postman, JIRA, and Confluence.
• Familiarity with big data technologies such as Aerospike, DynamoDB, Elastic Search, and Kafka.
• Strong experience with Amazon AWS or other cloud platforms, integrating testing and deployment workflows.
• Expertise in CI/CD, blue-green deployments, failover, and other DevOps practices to ensure system availability and reliability.
• Proven experience in leading performance, scalability, and security testing for complex distributed systems.
• Experience with security testing methodologies and ensuring compliance with industry security standards.
• Deep understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies, with experience in leading teams within a fast-paced, iterative development cycle.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, SQL, and a solid understanding of Linux systems.
• Strong technical skills in designing and executing tests across distributed systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate test results, risks, and issues to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience with additional core network technologies and telecom protocols.
• Familiarity with security testing and compliance standards such as ISO 27001, GDPR, or GSMA security guidelines.
• Experience managing cross-functional integration testing with third-party vendors or external teams.

Work Experience: 15+ years

Educational Qualification: BE. / B.Tech., M.E./M. Tech. or M. Sc. in Computer Science or any related qualification.
