Job Summary
The Senior Director of Project Management reports to the Site General Manager and serves as a key member of the site leadership team. This role is responsible for leading and developing the Project Management team and ensuring the successful execution of projects at AGC Biologics. The Senior Director provides strategic oversight to project managers, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with both client and business objectives.
This individual will play a critical role in managing client relationships, delivering a seamless experience from project initiation through completion, while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement. The role also includes responsibility for tracking and managing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to project success, resource allocation, and financial performance.
This role will be based primarily onsite at our Global Headquarters in Bothell, Washington.
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities
Lead and Manage the Project Management Team:
Oversees a team of Project Managers responsible for delivering a portfolio of Contract Development and Manufacturing (CDMO) projects across multiple functional areas.
Provides strategic direction, ensuring project goals align with business objectives and client expectations.
Develops and nurtures a high-performing project management team through coaching, mentorship, and professional development.
Ensure Standardization & Best Practices Across Sites
Implements and enforces project management best practices across all sites, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
Develops and refines project management processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance project execution.
Project & Portfolio Oversight
Monitors project status, risks, and resource allocation to drive on-time, on-budget, and high-quality project delivery.
Tracks and reports Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring visibility into project performance and areas for improvement.
Provides regular updates to the Head of Project Management, highlighting progress, scope changes, and new business opportunities.
Client Relationship Management & Escalation Support
Serves as the primary escalation point for staffing, bandwidth, or project delivery issues.
Builds strong partnerships with clients, ensuring transparent communication, trust, and alignment of expectations.
Participates in or leads Joint Steering Committees for key projects in collaboration with the Site Leadership Team and Head of Project Management.
Strategic Contributions & Leadership
Represents Project Management in leadership and business development meetings with potential and existing clients.
Supports business growth initiatives by contributing to project scope development, feasibility assessments, and risk management strategies.
Identifies and drives continuous improvement opportunities in project execution and cross-functional collaboration.
Operational Excellence & Team Development
Leads regular project pipeline/portfolio meetings, ensuring all active and upcoming projects are aligned with business priorities.
Ensures timely escalation and resolution of project roadblocks, keeping all functions accountable to project milestones.
Supports talent acquisition, performance management, and career development within the Project Management team.
Champion the adoption of new project management tools, automation, or digital tracking systems to enhance efficiency.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize workflows, reduce bottlenecks, and improve resource allocation.
Regulatory & Quality Compliance
Collaborate with Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure compliance with GMP, FDA, EMA, and other relevant regulations.
Support risk assessments and mitigation plans for regulatory challenges that may impact project timelines.
Financial & Contract Oversight
Ensure project budgets, forecasts, and financial tracking align with business objectives.
Partner with finance and commercial teams to manage project margins, cost control, and contract deliverables.
Hands-On Project Management (As Needed)
May serve as a Project Manager for a specific client when necessary, ensuring project success while balancing leadership responsibilities.
Required
QUALIFICATIONS
12+ years of experience in Project Management required.
8+ years of experience managing a team.
Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, or related discipline.
Health care (especially CDMO/GMP) experience required.
Preferred
PMP certification is a plus.
MBA or MS is a plus.
Compensation Range
$194,000 - $266,750
