About The Team

We are seeking an outstanding security professional with 15 or more years physical and personal security experience to join a fast-growing Software as a Service (SaaS) company in Pleasanton, CA. This person will develop and implement corporate physical security policies, procedures, and programs to protect the staff, reputation, and assets of a dynamic, growing, multi-site, global organization.

About The Role

Workday is looking for an experienced leader for its Global Workplace Safety (GWS) team. Reporting to the Vice President of Global Real Estate and the Workplace, the individual in this role will continue to build and lead the team and programs for the department. The successful candidate will be a strong team player, excellent communicator, interact well with executives, have an understanding of the cost impact of decisions, and have high standards in addition to having a depth of experience and knowledge in workplace and people safety as well as physical security. Key requirements include excellent independent judgment, integrity and discretion, as well as the ability to identify, analyze and resolve safety and security-related matters. The individual in this role will be responsible for directing day-to-day safety and physical security operations, including 24x7 accountability and visibility globally.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of Workday security professionals ensure that systems and processes are in place to keep Workday safe and its physical assets secure.
  • Lead and oversee a global team of outsourced security personnel at Workday’s Pleasanton headquarters, Dublin, Ireland EMEA headquarters and other locations as needed. Ensure that these services are provided with a high service level and in keeping with Workday’s core values.
  • Develop and regularly update a scalable model to include strategy, roadmap, goals and objectives for the GWS team and its functions that addresses Workday’s risk in these areas, including those related to compliance.
  • Ensure that physical security systems are reviewed strategically, including due diligence in site selection, and that they are designed, installed and well-managed in Workday offices globally.
  • Direct the EH&S function to ensure regulatory compliance throughout the world.
  • Develop global safety programs and outreach, ensuring that safety programs are in place and effective.
  • Work closely with the Workplace Operations team to ensure processes and procedures are in place to ensure all EH&S requirements are implemented and followed.
  • Maintain close partnerships with Legal, Privacy Ethics & Compliance (PEC), Information Security, Information Technology, Finance, Travel, People & Purpose (HR), and Workplace and any other key stakeholders to evolve and manage emergency response and incident command process and teams for all sites, ensuring that they fit into the overall Workday Business Continuity Plan.
  • Partner with Legal, PEC and HR on employee and contractor background check processes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships and effectively communicate with Workday employees, Workplace team members and office stakeholders, as well as with vendors and contractors.
  • Collaborate with cross functional partners to anticipate, identify and evaluate areas that carry risk to Workday.
  • Develop and cultivate positive relationships with governmental entities, including working with local law enforcement, fire departments, etc. to proactively protect Workday’s people and property.
  • Guide investigation of incidents, accidents, thefts, property loss and unlawful activities related to safety and physical security. Propose and implement approved initiatives to mitigate reoccurrence. Coordinate and partner with any appropriate law enforcement in addition to internal stakeholders such as Legal, PEC, HR, Information Security, Internal Audit.
  • Support executive protection by working with executives’ personal security teams as appropriate.
  • Advise on travel safety and monitor global conditions, working closely with the Finance Travel team.
  • Recommend and manage the budget for GWS, including staffing (both in house and out-sourced), equipment and systems, capital expenditures. Drive efficiencies for effective use of Workday’s resources. Balance risk and cost.
  • Travel to Workday offices globally as needed to manage the department and programs and support company events and initiatives.

About You

Basic Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 15+ years experience in corporate physical security and safety, preferably in the high technology field
  • 5+ years of people management experience

Other Qualifications

  • CPP, PSP credentials preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience in enterprise risk management, EH&S and business management principles
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a global workforce with an understanding of international regulations
  • Strong commitment to delivering the highest level of customer service, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills necessary to interact effectively with all workmates and service providers.
  • Demonstrated advanced organizational, decision making, and problem solving skills
  • Displayed strong leadership, including outstanding influence and communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge of security systems (e.g. access control, CCTV) and supporting databases
  • Strong work ethic
  • Adaptable to an ever-changing environment
  • Experienced in cost analysis and vendor negotiation
  • Experience using PC computer operating systems and related software applications, such as GSuite, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Workday Pay Transparency Statement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
