Position Summary: We are looking for a highly driven Senior Director of Engineering Operations, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer in our Raleigh, NC global headquarters, to ensure our engineering teams operate at maximum velocity, efficiency, and quality. This role will focus on driving engineering excellence through unit testing, automation, innovation, defect reduction, sprint execution, and product quality improvements. You will ensure teams are consistently delivering high-quality software, reducing customer outages, achieving maximum velocity, and focused on the highest priority items.
This is a highly execution-focused role that requires strong project management, process optimization, technical leadership, problem solving, and people management skills. You will work closely with Engineering Managers, ensuring their teams stay on track for releases while continuously improving their development processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering Quality & Automation
- Ensure teams implement and execute unit tests and automated testing practices.
- Identify areas with high defect rates and drive automation efforts to reduce them.
- Improve product quality through standardized best practices across teams.
- Sprint Execution & Delivery
- Ensure engineering teams operate at maximum sprint velocity and track sprint progress.
- Drive sprint demos, ensuring teams showcase progress and maintain transparency.
- Hold Engineering Managers accountable for on-track product releases.
- Assess and update as needed the branching strategy of a given product
- Operational Resilience & Customer Impact
- Oversee processes to minimize customer outages and reduce downtime.
- Implement and enforce incident management and resolution best practices.
- Process Standardization & Continuous Improvement
- Establish and enforce consistent engineering practices across teams.
- Identify bottlenecks and drive process improvements to optimize delivery.
- Ensure cross-team knowledge sharing and alignment on best practices.

What We’re Looking For:
- 8+ years of experience in engineering operations, software development leadership, or project/program management in a tech environment.
- Strong technical background with a deep understanding of software development, testing, and automation.
- Proven experience in agile methodologies, sprint execution, and release management.
- Strong project management skills, with experience holding engineering teams accountable for delivery.
- Data-driven, results-oriented mindset with a passion for operational excellence.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Technical engineering experience in .Net, React Native, SQL, and designing/architecting products that utilize those technologies.

- User of SAP Plant Maintenance / IBM Maximo in previous role.
