Summary

SUMMARY: We seek an entrepreneurial Senior Director of Business Development to drive strategic partnerships, licensing, and collaboration opportunities. This role requires a deep scientific understanding of various therapeutic areas, a proven track record in deal-making, and an extensive network across China’s biopharma ecosystem. You will identify high-value opportunities and lead negotiations to accelerate our future success.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic Partnerships: Identify, evaluate, and prioritize BD opportunities (in/out-licensing, co-development, strategic alliances) aligned with our priorities. Enable and lead robust decision-making through all stages of deals, including seeking approval for transactions from the senior leadership team.
  • Scientific Evaluation: Working closely with company R&D team to assess target validation and preclinical/clinical data of target assets.
  • Network Building: Cultivate relationships with biotechs, pharma, and academic institutions across China. Be an ambassador for Brii at external meetings, conferences, and seminars to access new opportunities and develop external networks
  • Deal Execution: Oversee negotiations strategies with prospective partners, including creating collaboration structures aligned with scientific and business needs and making deal recommendations to key executive team stakeholders. Lead end-to-end negotiations, term sheets, and agreements, collaborating with Legal, IP, R&D, and Executive teams.
  • Market Insight: Monitor competitive landscapes, regulatory trends, and emerging technologies.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with internal stakeholders (R&D, Clinical, IP) to align BD strategies with corporate objectives. Demonstrate ability to engage and effectively influence team members across diverse teams while prioritizing multiple projects and meeting deadlines


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or related field (required).
  • 10+ years in R&D, business development, and investment within biotech/pharma, with at least 3 years in business development.
  • Established network with key stakeholders in China’s biopharma ecosystem (executives, KOLs, investors).
  • Track record of closing complex deals (licensing, collaborations, M&A).
  • Fluency in Mandarin and English; exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance scientific rigor and commercial pragmatism.
